MY SHOW MONOLOGUE
Welcome to Huckabee and our first show since the Wuhan Virus took hold that we’ve had a studio audience, albeit a limited and socially distanced one. But I’m so glad we’re back in our theater in Hendersonville just outside of Nashville and even more glad to have audience back in the seats. Audience we missed you! Keith and Tre didn’t always laugh at my bad jokes, so I’m counting on you guys! Tickets are free, but by reservation at Huckabee.tv
Have you heard the term “law and order” lately? If not, you’ve perhaps been held hostage by the nutjobs in Seattle who took over 6 city blocks and declared they were an autonomous country called CHAZ and then re-named themselves CHOP. Not very organized if they couldn’t even stick with a name for two whole weeks! Before I get to an explanation of what law and order really mean, can I just tell you that the nonsense of a mob taking over a big chunk of a city and having a leftist lunatic mayor describe it as a festival like a potluck gathering or the “summer of love” should never have been allowed. Why the people of Seattle or any American city tolerate such incompetence in their elected officials is beyond me. If these anarchists declared they were autonomous, then the city should have simply turned off the electricity, water, sewer, gas, phone, cable tv, and internet and electronically blocked cell signals in or out of that area. No deliveries of any kind allowed in. If they are really autonomous, they should be able to supply their own utilities, infrastructure, commerce, and food production. If not, they are about as independent as my 5-year-old grandson when he announces he’s going to leave home. But not until he gets dinner, has a story read to him and gets tucked in for a night’s sleep.
Clearly Seattle is missing some law and order. But those aren’t just words. Law means we agree as citizens that we will establish through our elected representatives a social contract to define what is proper and acceptable behavior. We create laws that prohibit murder, theft, rape, armed robbery, and burglary, but also restrict the use of drugs or alcohol, set limits on the speed we can drive, and determine when kids have to be in school. Law is what we determine to be the reasonable standards of our community that we should be expected to live by. It’s like rules we learned on the school playground, but for adults—or at least it’s supposed to be for adults.
Order means that we actually follow those laws and we establish consequences upon those who refuse. There can be no order without law—one can only be held accountable when one knows the expectation. And there can be no law that doesn’t insist on order or the compliance of the people to accept the rules as a condition of living with personal liberty. Order comes with the protection afforded to those who voluntarily live their lives respectful of the rights and liberties of others. Without law—it’s every man for himself. It’s doing whatever feels good, even if it’s destructive to other people or their property. And without order through the enforcement of law, which is forced compliance to those standards, there is no point in even having law. Without those 2 foundations, it’s only a matter of time before there is a collapse of any semblance of government and a revolution is underway.
If a candidate says he’s for law and order, the test is simple: Does he or she believe that we should enforce the agreed upon law? Do we have laws that equally apply to all and are evenly enforced upon all? If not, there will be no order, just chaos, because we didn’t really believe the laws we created.
A civilization cannot survive without law…and order. We all can’t make our own laws or rules, but once made, we must agree to abide by them or else suffer the consequences. When we fail to have either, we are living by the law of the jungle. Might makes right. The loudest voices rule. But the people and their freedoms are crushed. And that’s why we must have LAW and ORDER! Or we lose our neighborhoods, then our communities, then our cities, then our states, and then our country.
THE FIRST AMENDMENT IS STILL IN EFFECT
Great news: the First Amendment is still in effect, at least in some courtrooms. Friday, a federal judge issued an injunction blocking New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio from enforcing restrictions on outdoor and indoor gatherings of religious groups that are stricter than those on businesses and other types of gatherings. They'd even put tighter restrictions on religious groups than on businesses and gatherings that were classified as “non-essential,” which ranked religious expression as lower than “non-essential.”
It’s a great victory for religious liberty but what makes it extra sweet is that the judge based his ruling partly on the blatantly biased way that those two Democrats treated the recent street protests over George Floyd and the police.
Judge Gary Sharpe pointed out that Cuomo and DeBlasio not only allowed but endorsed and participated in protests that violated their own restrictions on large gatherings while harshly enforcing those restrictions on religious groups (DeBlasio even spoke at one – with no mask! – at the same time that he was threatening to arrest Jews who gathered in groups of more than ten to worship.) That denied churches, synagogues, and other religious groups equal protection under the law.
Some legal experts noted that what they were also doing was establishing an unconstitutional state religion: the religion of secular leftism, which is allowed to flout the rules because the government deems its mission and message to be so much more important than those of traditional religions.
So now that we have an official ruling that secular leftism is a religion, I’m sure the leftists will agree with me that it has to be kicked out of public schools immediately.
Er…about that rampaging “Biden Fever” that the polls claim American voters are feeling… What they’re not putting into any headlines is the fact that in last Tuesday’s primaries, Biden won less than 68% in New York and just over 57% in Kentucky. The rest went to candidates who are no longer in the race, such as Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren. That means that between 32% and 42% of Democrats couldn’t bring themselves to vote for Biden, even though he was the only practical choice. He’s already locked up the nomination and nobody is even running against him.
I don’t think Trump is going to let him run unopposed.
BET FOUNDER HAS MESSAGE FOR WHITE LIBERALS
Robert Johnson, the founder of Black Entertainment Television (BET) and America’s first black billionaire, has a message for all the virtue-signaling white liberals who are making a big show of their racial wokeness by vandalizing statues of historical figures and getting “The Dukes of Hazzard” taken off TV. And that message is:
Johnson calls these overheated white racial warriors (have you seen the video of the entitled young white woman screaming in the faces of two black police officers about how they’re undermining her struggle against racism?) “borderline anarchists” and says their attempts to “cancel” people for thought crimes such as saying that “all lives matter” are "tantamount to rearranging the deck chairs on a racial Titanic. It absolutely means nothing…White Americans seem to think that if they just do sort of emotionally or drastic things that black people are going to say, ‘Oh my God, white people love us because they took down a statue of Stonewall Jackson.’ Frankly, black people don’t give a d**n."
And he thinks the “silliest expression of white privilege” is white celebrities releasing videos of themselves apologizing for being white, and saying, “'Oh, my God, I am so sorry that I am white.’ I don't find any black people getting on Twitter and saying, 'Oh, I'm so sorry I'm black.' And we got the worst problems...My thing is: embrace being white and do the right thing."
Johnson said none of this self-righteous political theater is going to “give a kid whose parents can't afford college money to go to college. It's not going to close the labor gap between what white workers are paid and what black workers are paid. And it's not going to take people off welfare or food stamps.”
Incidentally, I should point out that that’s what he means by “Do the right thing,” not that you should watch the Spike Lee movie instead of “Gone With The Wind” and tweet at length about how woke to your privilege it made you.
AMERICANS LOVE THEIR PICKUP TRUCKS
And now, something fun to take your mind off all the crazy and infuriating news, and remind you of how little most of America has changed. Ford commissioned a survey to find out just how much Americans love their pickup trucks. They were asked what they would give up before they would give up their pickups. Here’s what they said:
* 82% would give up Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon Prime Video.
* 79% would give up drinking alcohol.
* 71% would give up drinking coffee.
* 47% would give up using their phone.
* 44% would give up eating meat.
* 38% would give up sex.
And if people had to give up alcohol, sex, and barbecue, PLUS their pickups, we’d all have to give up country music, because there’d be nothing left to write songs about.
Tonight, to celebrate welcoming our studio audience back to “Huckabee” on TBN, we have an extra special show for them and for you! To discuss the week’s news, I’ll visit with HUD Secretary Dr. Ben Carson. You’ll meet an incredibly inspiring young girl, Grace Anna Rogers, and learn how to keep joy in your life from “joyologist” Dawn Barton. I won’t spoil the surprise, but the Sandou Trio will present one of the most amazing acts you will ever see. And we’ll cap it all off with the music of country/gospel star and winner of NBC’s “The Voice,” Todd Tilghman.
We’ve got all that and more, coming your way tonight at 8 and 11 EST, 7 and 10 CST, only on TBN. To find where you can watch TBN, from local cable and broadcast channels to streaming, visit https://www.tbn.org/huckabee and click on the “WATCH” menu at the top.
