One of the more surreal sidelights to the startling and momentous events in Singapore was an interview given by ex-NBA star Dennis Rodman to CNN.  Rodman became friendly with Kim Jong-Un after he started visiting North Korea five years ago to help train basketball players.  His description of the murderous dictator as a “big kid” who just likes to have fun brought him mockery in the US from late night comics, and, he told CNN, so many death threats that he couldn’t go home for 30 days.

Wearing a red “MAGA” cap and a T-shirt promoting his sponsor (a marijuana-based cryptocurrency), Rodman became emotional as he praised Trump (whom he knows from “Celebrity Apprentice”) and blasted Barack Obama.  He revealed that he had tried years ago to deliver a message from Kim to Obama about his willingness to negotiate, but Obama "didn't even give me the time of day -- he just brushed me off.”

This is part of a new twist on the double standard (call it “Celebrity Double Standard.”)  The media celebrated Obama as the king of cool for hanging out with stars such as Jay-Z, Beyonce and Bruce Springsteen.  But they ridiculed Trump for meeting with Kim Kardashian, even though it led to him commuting a life sentence for an African-American great-grandmother convicted of a non-violent drug crime.  And they mocked Dennis Rodman, even though he now praises Trump for doing what Obama refused to and possibly turning a new page in history with the North Korea summit.  So the media’s problem isn’t with Presidents talking to celebrities; it’s with them talking to anyone who’s not an A-list celebrity.  Or who has an actual issue to discuss.

Just a reminder of something that Trump has always kept in mind: despite the sniping about his own ego, he realizes that the job of President is, at its core, a civil service job.  He knows he doesn’t work for the political establishment or the media, he works for the people.  Kim Kardashian and West Virginia coal miners have just as much right to his attention as Hollywood moguls or Wall Street bankers.  That’s why he recently took 90 minutes out of his incredibly busy schedule to shake the hand of each and every graduate of the US Naval Academy.

It’s ironic that a President who was criticized for being a “celebrity” seems to care so little about whether the people he helps or listens to are celebrities.  Maybe it’s because he has spent so much time in Hollywood and New York celebrity circles that the A-listers' endless attacks on him don’t faze him.  He’d probably rather have the approval of construction workers, anyway.

I read "Historic Moment: Trump Meets Kim" with great interest and agreement. I wholeheartedly agree with your sentiments and have hopes and faith that indeed it is a historic beginning to a potentially historic evolvement for the good of all humankind. God bless you in your ministry to the betterment of our people, our Country and all humanity. And thank you!

Mikkee Addison prayed on Abraham Hamilton's radio show this afternoon that this meeting of our president with Kim Jung Un will be the tipping point to set our brothers and sisters living in horrible suffering in North Korean gulags free. Amen and amen and amen! When President Trump told the president of Nigeria that he was concerned about the persecution of Christians in his country. Christians on the ground in Nigeria reported security forces were dispatched to their towns within HOURS of that meeting. President Trump also told Kim Jung Un that he was watching persecution of Christians in North Korea! How I pray Trump's CHUTZPAH and compassion will turn the tide for our brothers and sisters in North Korea.

You are right on about Trump listening to ordinary people and he also can spot a phoney when he meets one.
He’s an extraordinary negotiator and has a lot of “people smarts”.
So thankful to be counted among his voters and the celebs have no ear in government now!!
The everyday people are sick to death of politicians and crooked government leaders.
We just want to be Americans and have our government be “for the people, and by the people”
We want to have family values and be able to worship in freedom.
Thanks for being a voice for us
Love your show on TBN, too??

First off thanks Gov. for what you do. I think Un realizes he can change his history and NK history from very bad to good. He can go from hated dictator to beloved ruler at home and abroad. I just pray for this transition. I feel the libs would rather war than a Trump success too. Sad times we are in.

This report saddened me deeply. If Obama had given Dennis Rodman the time of day, maybe Otto Warmier and a couple of other prisoners might still be alive today. It's seems Kim Jong Un has wanted to depart from North Korea's dismal path for some time, but needed a compelling invitation from a strong leader, so he could "save face" on the world stage.

"He knows he doesn’t work for the political establishment or the media, he works for the people." That is exactly what drives the, dare we say, anti-Americans bonkers - they can't influence someone that requires neither their approval or their money! President Trump, like EVERYONE on the planet Earth, is far from infallible, perhaps even not of high moral character, God be the judge; however, you do have to LOVE the fact that he unashamedly loves America and, with or without God's help (Praying for the former), is doing his American best at "helping" this country and its people! ANYBODY not wishing "God Speed," for this president, should MOVE to any other country that would have them....

I knew Trump could do it! I am a construction worker who voted for Trump. I've always said we needed a businessman to run the country. Lawyers and politicians have no grasp of the realities of a normal person. Liberals want to destroy our country. If I could talk to Trump, I would tell him to stay off Twitter and keep rolling over the bureaucrats in Congress. Build the wall, send illegals back to where they came from, end anchor babies and chain migration, put term limits on congress and make them live on the same social security the rest of us do. Get rid of lobbyists. Our system is broken and abused and I voted for Trump because he wasn't one of them. So go Trump!

Well written. I like your commentary on this important historical event. President Trump has been raised up for such a time as this! Finally, we have a president for the people! My prayers continue for the President and his family, for our nation and for Revival in these last days!

God Bless you Governor Huckabee and your daughter, Sarah, as well. I have prayed, as many others have, for a leader who truly works for the people of this country. The swamp is a black lagoon and as you said, Rome was not built overnight, but oh, my, what progress in so many areas. Your comments for June 12, 2018 were spot on. You say what I and millions of other informed Americans believe. Thank you for all you do to make things clearer and to give us the details that really matter. Also, I LOVE your humor. Keep it up. I continue to pray for you, President Trump and VP Mike Pence and especially for all those lost souls who need Jesus in their lives and you know who I'm talkin' about.
