Nancy Pelosi likened the Republican tax bill to “Armageddon” not long back.  Of course, Democrats treat every Republican proposal as if it were exactly that, but this time she really means it!  So if you are one of the few people who still take Nancy Pelosi seriously, you surely expected to see lots of fire and brimstone and the Four Horsemen and assorted other drama to mark its passage.  Well, the House has passed it, and things are pretty quiet so far.

Maybe Armageddon is on hold until the Senate passes it later this evening, which they are expected to do.  There’s always a chance that the Senate will opt out of its role in bringing on the end of the world.  But it looks as though it will pass the Senate by a razor-thin margin, and those Americans who have been made wary by Democrats using words like “evil” to describe it for months should defer “Judgment Day” until they’ve had a chance to see the results.

What this bill is designed to do is to bring corporate tax rates into the area of sanity, more in line with the rest of the world; stimulate strong economic growth; and also to give the middle class –- especially small business owners –- a break.  Democrats are always talking about their own goals for helping the middle class, and whenever they do, I know the middle class is in for a major clubbing.

The “Affordable” Care Act, for example, was supposed to help the middle class but offered truly unaffordable premiums and sky-high deductibles.  The rich could afford this, of course, and the poor could get subsidies, but middle-income families could...well, go pound sand.  This tax reform bill finally eliminates the Obamacare mandate.  That alone would be huge.

When I read this comment from Nancy Pelosi (and the Gov. of CA) referring to Scripture, I almost choked. Such hypocrisy. I am shocked that they even know what the Bible is.

Do we need more work on health care? Yes! Are a lot (millions) of people still without any coverage and forced to ignore their health concerns? Yes! Do hospitals, doctor offices, and the medical system as a whole ignore you if you dont carry coverage? Absolutely! Do those on government poverty health plans truly get the treatment they need? Not even close. I can tell you from first hand experience as a "middle class" small business owner how jacked up Obama care is and what a relief it will be to see some changes. Who can afford $1200 - $2000 a month health insurance with a $250 or $300 subsidy? Big deal! How about $8000 deductibles before you can even get the insurance to participate - and then add another 20% that you have to come up with because insurance only pays 80%. It was and is so expensive that I dont carry any health insurance due to the cost. On top of all that, now I am penalized for not carrying insurance? There is no word to describe the stupidity of that plan. Oh, but wait! Why dont I go on medicare or poverty health care? Because I earn to much to qualify! So here I am middle class family with no insurance. Lets not mention how all the big corporations are offering low paying jobs with no full-time positions in order to compensate for the cost of insurance. Thus millions of people are earning $12 an hour and work at least two jobs to make ends meet. All thanks to greedy government, greedy corporations, and a very corrupt system. Disgusting. Huck for President!

That is the first step in improving taxes. There should be some immediate benefits. It will be short term if you don't do the second step which is Human Capital. US is number one in economy but 16 th in Human Capital. Survival to date has been through a aggressive Legal immigration plan to bring in skilled workers. More high tec workers need to be developed in US. Watch where Amazon decides to put their second headquarters and their reasons for it( US or Canada)

I'm glad the tax bill passed for those who needed the break. Both my wife & myself are on Social Security Disability. With the whopping 2% raise we received this year, 11, count it, 11 WHOLE DOLLARS between the both of us, is what we'll receive in our checks in January, net, & to boot, our landlord raised our rent by 13 dollars for the new year, so we are in the hole, once again, for 2 bucks. Most of the increase we received went, all or in part, to pay for our Medicare payments, which was taken by the Gov't automatically from our checks. If anyone wants to know why this is upsetting to me, it's because the Illegals that get these entitlements for free & unfairly, which we somehow can't get as much as American citizens for some reason, is disturbing at best. Bad enough I worked over 45 years to be able to get this money, I lost my all retirement funds due to illness & penalty fees levied because I needed this money to survive on while we were sick, so the Gov't promptly took 20% of my hard earned personal retirement money as a fine or compensation for my having to use my own money due to an unwanted illness. To say we're basically broke pretty much sums it up. And the doctor bills keep on coming in for both of us. It took us over 12 YEARS & a bankruptcy to get out of debt, this coming February we'll finally be solvent, Thank GOD. But it's the free ride the illegals get, that never paid their due here, that irks me the most. If the Gov't would stop giving these handouts to every Tom, Dick & Harry that comes here illegally, there would be more in the checks of real Americans who actually need it AND have earned it. I've said my peace.
God Bless you Gov. Huckabee for all you do, & to you & yours, have a Happy, Healthy & MERRY CHRISTMAS & A Very Happy New Year !!!

I'm so thankful for the men and women who voted to help us, the middle class, with tax relief. I don't understand the degree of antipathy shown from the Democrats. This tax relief is going to give hope and help to America. I think the opposing party may be in for a surprise in 2018/2020. Blessings to President Trump, and to the House and Senate.

Please keep on being the voice of reason. You know and speak the truth ,just wish the Democrats would strive to be honest and stop spreading lies and distorting the truth. It just maybe time for a Convention of States to get term limits on Congress. There is such a shame in the fact that someone can become a Federal official in Congress a poor man, and leave after 30 to 50 years there as a multimillionaire. Our forefathers never meant for being a repetitiveness to be a lifetime job . The term Absolute Power corrupts is so true. Thank you Sir for all that you do..God's blessings on you and yours.

I am thankful that it appears this tax legislation is going into effect. Just heard on this morning's news the positive plans Fed Ex has for their business model and employees because of the new law. I hope more corporations follow suit. People like Pelosi and Schumer have sowed such hatred and discord with their lies. Last evening a get-together with long standing dear friends dissolved into a political referendum laced with hateful remarks. What a sad state of affairs has been spawned.

There is such hatred by the Democrats against President Trump it is mind boggling. You would think they would want to help the American people to prosper, but no, they are so full of themselves that they can't even think as a rational human being. Looking forward to great things once the tax bill is in effect.

The Democrats have done nothing since the election but to try and destroy Trump. They are so worked up that Hillary didn't just waltz into the White House like she thought she would and she thought deserved they have done nothing this entire year but cause trouble. Obama was the worst president this country has ever seen and he is doing his part to help stir the pot. The Democrats have nearly destroyed this country the last 25 years they are upset that someone like Trump came along and is acting like a world leader and standing up the opposition and showing some back bone and not giving in to the bully's.

Instead of the constant complaining why don't these democrats and republicans come together to make things work for all of us? If even one person in the House or Senate was really against it, why did they not vote against the bill? Why wait for it to pass and then beat it to death? "Speak up (vote) or forever hold your piece". I am glad to see us have some kind of tax reform!

Nancy Pelosi has no business remaining in Congress with her obvious disregard for the truth and justice. Like many other members of the federal government, she seems more concerned with re-election, maintaining her power-base/sphere of influence, and building her financial portfolio. I could personally replace every member of congress with someone of equal or greater ability and more integrity in less than a week (that includes myself).

    Hi Mike,

First off, I just want to say that my wife and I have always enjoyed listening to your insights and overall conservative views. Isn’t it sad how liberals have hatched so many haters. I think what happened is they bred quite a while ago and now they’ve hatched out pure breds...virtually no good haters...sad. As far as trumps tax plan the media would say over 60% disapprove of it but only 5 to 10 percent even know what’s in it. As far as the tax plan it doesn’t go far enough Republicans for years have allowed Democrats the pleasure to feed their own minds that they are the ones for the middle class . They’re COMPLETE thieves Mike and that’s all they’ve ever been. I’m a really good businessman and I’ve always let me keep my money and I will do a better job with it than them assholes . They’re thieves.

I believe most of the 'sexual harassment' claims have some basis in fact but until allegations become charges I refuse to give much credence to them. We ARE still in a nation where a person is supposed to be innocent until proven guilty. Yes, we do have some scum in high places and women have been treated badly. But let's get out the facts before convicting anyone.

Mr Huckabee, Thank you for all you do and have done to help all Americans. The raise that we seniors have received on our Social Security checks is appreciated. This is how it has helped me. It has covered all the raise on my Medicare medical insurance plus $2.70 which is not enough to pay for the raise for Medigap Insurance. Therefore nothing left for raise for food or etc. I only wish the government representatives and senate realize how little so many seniors are living on when they are so generous with their own raises.
I’m thankful for our President and all he has done and continues to do for all of us! He really inherited a mess but is doing a good job trying to straighten it out. I appreciate him and all his hard work plus you and daughter Sarah! She is doing such a great job! God bless all of you!!!

I'm an old man who comes from an era wherein you were responsible and accountable for what you would say. Today, in politics you are only sometimes responsible and somehow that needs to be changed or the trend reversed. President Trump if being finely examined for the exact wording of certain statements, i.e. "did he ask Comey to let the Michael Flynn situation go or did he tell him to let it go. Seems to be of vital importance to the left. They want to be able to remove a president based upon the exactness of his words. But beginning with Obama, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, and Chuck Shumer there is no consequence for outrages claims. These four liberal democrats have made the political picture of today, and moving forward, to be one that is becoming more and more nasty. Statements like Nancy's "Armageddon", all the democrats calling for resistance to anything this administration tries to do, and a list that could go on for pages and pages. There needs to be consequences for this pathetic state we are in of party, party, party, rather than America, America, America. Every country is made up of those who are well informed, moderately informed, and ill informed. If these irresponsible politicians are permitted to say anything and not have to stand behind it, how is anyone in any category of informed status supposed to make an intelligent decision when voting. Campaign after campaign is no longer what one will do if elected but instead how dastardly the opponent is. After the election they want to say how they ran a good campaign and how they got there message out - bovine feces!!! They count on an ill informed electorate that hears the denigrating remarks, the more vicious the more effective and we continue down this road to becoming a once great nation. Every piece of legislation is not dependent on identifiable benefit to the American people but instead which party has the majority as cross-over voting within the congress is non-existent unless they are voting on a benefit for themselves, then they miraculously come together. We are doomed.....Absent a genuine return to a God believing, a God fearing country how does anyone start a movement of change back to who we once were? We have entered an era of using violence to resolve disagreement, the political folks like to show their compassion by lamenting it but they propagate it with their nastier and nastier rhetoric. I would be interested in hearing your views from this perspective.

Democrats have been throwing the Middle Class under the Bus for a long time. They just don't respond at all to the wants and needs of the middle class voters and instead elect to serve the 1%. They are master manipulators of the uninformed voter. If Trump said that every tax payer would receive a million dollars under the new plan, the democrats would say it was not fair to those that don't pay taxes.

I always enjoy your posts. Thank you for honesty and humor.
Republicans need to stop being so devicive with each other and truly use this time to work at breakneck speed in undoing all the harm Obama put on us.
Healthcare is ruined and the only way to improve it is to get competition back in the market and the gov’t out.
Also, they need to hold Hillary & Obama liable for the corruption they’ve done. That alone would restore Americans. Faith that NO ONE is above the law. Thank you.

Governor - I am simply a frustrated American who follows politics probably too closely - but I am also a retired pastor who believes often we approach political communication from the wrong angles. I would love to get this into your hands, Shawn Hannity and others who might strongly consider using all or part of this messaging going forward. God Bless!!
Republican response to liberal media and Democratic criticism going into mid-term and 2020 elections.
    • The American people are educated and smart people. They understand the liberal and conservative party platforms, the ideology and values or lack thereof – that is needed to continue to make America Great Again – and preventing our Nation from returning to the weakness that began in the post-Reagan era.
    • Americans believe in, and want, bi-partisan leadership in our country. That is, as long as those responsible to develop the party platform and demonstrated goals and plans forward - serve the best interest of ALL Americans. Focused on keeping Americans safe, growing our economy and reducing our debt.
    • To prove the American people’s integrity – they made their voices heard by voting to elect conservatives giving them control of the House, the Senate, and the White House. Because the voters believe in the platform, and agenda, that was promised to make radical changes and a course correction, to turn this great nation around.
    • As conservatives we have great friends who are liberal minded that desire the country to be driven by their platform and agenda. These liberals are very educated and well intentioned people. But by being obstructionists and pushing against the agenda and platform ideals of the conservatives America elected, they’ve missed many opportunities to gain their constituents trust back.
    • As conservatives we are pressing ahead and are going to leave the future progress of this great Nation in the voting voices of those same educated and smart Americans. We believe they will continue to support and even grow the effort started to Make America Great Again. They will elect even more conservatives in the Mid-term elections and the National Election in 2020. In so doing, conservatives will have the inherent support to push through the remaining and future agenda with a majority that ensures nothing will obstruct the progress forward.
    • So Americans we look forward to you, using your voice and your vote, to add strength to the conservative leadership base you’ve established. Get behind the conservative candidates running for re-election or those coming on board to run against liberal incumbents.

    Hi Sir:
I am so glad the tax bill passed the House and can only pray the same for the Senate. What amazes me most is that everyone focus' on only what they deem important. Care little of what the "other guy" will benefit from. I'm 66. I've reached SS retirement age, which means I can maintain my full position and collect my full benefits. I've struggled all my life and paid into the SS fund, as have my employers, and now it's time for me to be able to actually save money for my future. I have to still work and I am blessed I have employer healthcare. Recognizing I'm blessed, I can sympathize with those less fortunate, of which there are many. For example, several conservative radio hosts are upset the bill isn't what they believe to be "fiscally responsible". While that may be true for now, I have no doubt our President isn't done and will find a way to continue cutting the costs of Washington, as he has been steadily doing over the past 11 months. The middle class will be helped immensely. How cannot it not be. $1.5 Trillion over 10 years is a drop in comparison to what was done over the last 8 years. I also believe the tax bill will generate sufficient funds to cover the cost. If more companies get a break and come back to USA, if the corporation tax brings in new companies, we have more jobs, more opportunities, more working people off welfare, more taxes being paid into the system. Additionally, the reversal of the terrible, evil mandates that our previous Whitehouse resident put into place, punishing citizens for not being able to afford an unaffordable healthcare package - well, they are the middle class. They are getting HUGE help with this tax bill, including the double exemption. I wish people would just wait and see the end result, instead of discussing it to death, over and over to rile people up. We need to support this President. We need to understand that not every law will benefit us specifically - they never have, and they never will. It's just unfortunate that we now live in a culture where 'ME' comes first and the heck with the other person less fortunate than you are. Anyway, I will be anxious to see what occurs. I pray for this President. I pray for you and your wonderful daughter, Sarah. She is a remarkable person and a wonderful asset to our President and our country. God Bless you all.
