Democrats and the mainstream media (but I repeat myself) have been trying mightily to convince Americans that the border crisis is merely a perception created by President Trump, with “manufactured” suddenly being the word of choice. It seems everyone got the memo, so to speak, and took their cue from Schumer and Pelosi to coordinate their use of that and other buzzwords --- not just opinion writers and party hacks but even the “news” reporters and so-called fact-checkers.
It’s not the first time we’ve seen fact-checkers blend fact and opinion when “grading” statements for accuracy, but this is the worst it has been in my memory. They had to do this because they’d painted themselves into a corner by accusing Trump of lying even before he gave his Oval Office address. When it turned out his stats were absolutely correct, what were they supposed to do –- admit he’d told the truth? That was never going to happen.

Colorado baker update
By Mike Huckabee
I’ve had Colorado cake artist Jack Phillips on my TBN show to talk about how the state’s far-left Civil Rights Commission tried to drive him out of business for refusing to violate his deeply-held Christian beliefs by creating same-sex wedding cakes. You might have heard that the Supreme Court sided with him in a victory for First Amendment religious freedom rights. But many of us warned at the time that the SCOTUS ruled on grounds that were too narrow and technical. They should have firmly slapped down such government overreach that's been allowed to fester because they created a new right to same-sex marriage without clarifying what it meant for existing foundational rights.
Sure enough, the ink was hardly dry on the SCOTUS ruling before the state was right back to persecuting Phillips, this time siding with a trans activist demanding he create a “gender transition” cake, and again trying to force him to violate his religious beliefs. As infuriating as it is that he still has to fight this battle, I’m glad to report that he is fighting it, he's getting help fighting it, and he just won another significant victory. He’s suing Colorado for anti-religious bias, and a federal judge refused the state’s request to dismiss his lawsuit and ruled that it can proceed.
His attorney from the Alliance Defending Freedom says the state allows other cake artists to decline requests for messages they deem objectionable, yet “the same agency that the Supreme Court rebuked as hostile to Jack Phillips has remained committed to treating him unequally and forcing him to express messages that violate his religious beliefs…Colorado is acting in bad faith and with bias toward Jack. We look forward to moving forward with this lawsuit to ensure that Jack isn’t forced to create custom cakes that express messages in conflict with his faith.”
Good luck to Jack Phillips, and I hope that if this case goes all the way to the SCOTUS, they will finally have the guts to make it clear that the First Amendment right to freedom of religious expression outweighs any alleged right to compel others to endorse your sexual preference or lifestyle. I hope Jack can have his cake and eat Colorado’s lunch, too.
Exposing bias and ignorance
By Mike Huckabee
Campus Reform man-on-the-campus interviewer Cabot Phillips does a terrific job of illustrating how many of the things today’s students believe are the truth are actually the equivalent of biased Twitter memes posted directly into their brains by their liberal professors. His latest is one of the best yet.
Click the link and watch him read quotes to college students of Trump statements on the importance of border security and enforcing immigration laws. See their furious reactions, as they brand Trump’s comments “hateful,” “unacceptable,” “rude,” “racist,” “divisive,” “jingoist,” “prejudiced,” “dehumanizing” and worse. Then watch their brains melt down when he informs them those weren’t quotes from Trump, they were actually quotes from Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, back before the Democratic Party went around the bend in favor of open borders and illegal immigration.

US Navy veteran in Iranian prison
By Mike Huckabee
Iran confirmed Wednesday that it is holding US Navy veteran Michael R. White in an Iranian prison. White flew to Iran to visit his girlfriend, and his mother filed a missing person report with the State Department when he failed to show up for his return flight. So far, no details have been released on why White was arrested, but Iran has been known in the past to detain Westerners to use as leverage during negotiations, and the Trump Administration has cracked down hard on then lately.
Let’s all pray for the release and safe return of Michael White. And let’s pray that the leaders of Iran realize quickly what a very bad idea it is to try to blackmail Trump into knuckling under by threatening Americans.

Ainsworth: "Get woke, go broke" --- fashion magazines leaving newsstands
By Laura Ainsworth
Helen Smith at Instapundit has an essay that gets me as happy as the thought of a high border wall. The reason for my joy: She writes about the demise of women’s magazines. And she has the same reaction to that as I do; namely, “good riddance!”
She refers to these magazines as “paragons of social justice” that have been brainwashing the women of America. “Even magazines like LADIES HOME JOURNAL,” she writes, “are infested with left-leaning programming meant more for indoctrination than entertainment.” So true.
Name one thing
By Mike Huckabee
Incidentally, before anyone challenges me with the current DNC/media talking point that “of course, the Democrats support secure borders and immigration laws, they just don’t believe a wall will help,” I’d direct you to Stephen Miller’s recent challenge to Wolf Blitzer to name a single thing Democrats have supported in recent years that would secure the borders and keep out criminal illegal aliens. Quite the opposite.

Inspiration

Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer might not have inspired any confidence that Democrats give a flip about border security, but they sure inspired a lot of hilarious comments and memes. Here’s a round-up of the latest and funniest.

Who will check the fact-checkers?
By Mike Huckabee
Who will check the fact-checkers? Fortunately, a lot of people are, now that conservatives have wised up to how biased many of the alleged “fact-checkers” are, and how they often declare things to be “lies” or “falsehoods” that are actually just “opinions we disagree with” or “truths we find inconvenient.”
At the link, Mollie Hemingway breaks down how the mainstream media “fact-checkers” were so jazzed to blast Trump’s speech on border security as false and misleading before he ever said a word, and how spectacularly they botched their “fact-checking” when it turned out Trump had the facts on his side. They were reduced to denying claims he never made at all, branding differences of opinion as lies and twisting things he said into things he never said.
As the cherry on top, blogger Jeff Dunetz takes a closer look at the left’s favorite misleading “fact,” the claim that illegal immigrants commit fewer crimes than US citizens.
