"Huckabee" Preview

This weekend, it's a special Thanksgiving edition of “Huckabee,” and not just because we’re all so thankful the election is over – at least, in the states where it is over.  John McLemore of the Masterbilt smoker and cooker company will show us the right way to fry a turkey (and for fun and thrills, we’ll also take a look at some of the wrong ways.)  A man who knows how it feels to be thankful for every day of life, Rep. Steve Scalise, will join me.  Will Graham will tell us about his inspiring new book on faith and the life and legacy of his grandfather, the Rev. Billy Graham.  I’ll talk turkey with bestselling author and theologian Nancy Pearcey, and country music superstar Billy Dean, “The American Troubadour,” has a special song for the occasion.

Sprinkle with my commentaries on current events, some crazy news “In Case You Missed It,” tasty holiday treats and my guests’ personal Thanksgiving stories, and that’s a recipe for a terrific, all-new holiday “Huckabee!”  It’s tonight at 8 and 11 EST, 7 and 10 CST, and again at the same times on Sunday, only on TBN.  To find the TBN outlet in your area, and to stream past shows, visit https://www.tbn.org/programs/huckabee

 A suggestion

The White House announced that it will comply with a federal judge’s temporary order to reinstate CNN “reporter” Jim Acosta’s press pass, despite the fact that instead of asking questions, he virtue-signals his opinions like a blinding lighthouse of liberalism.  But based off the judge’s ruling that Acosta wasn’t fully informed of why he was losing his pass, White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders (my daughter) added that the White House will also “develop rules and processes to ensure fair and orderly press conferences in the future. There must be decorum at the White House.”  In other words, there will now be a written code of conduct for “journalists” to tell them how to behave like adults.  Acosta and some of the others should react to that the way vampires would to a cross made of garlic.

https://www.westernjournal.com/white-house-responds-court-order-reinstate-acostas-press-pass/

I have another suggestion that I think could vastly improve both the behavior of White House reporters and the quality of questions asked.  Currently, the same Beltway insiders show up at every press conference.  Many of them are liberal hothouse flowers, born and raised in an impenetrable bubble of PC groupthink, totally out of touch with Americans who aren’t DC or coastal elites. Or as they’re referred to on Instapundit, “Democratic operatives with bylines.”  Why are they there?  Because the White House Correspondents Association is allowed to recommend who gets a press pass.  You remember the WHCA?  They’re the people who put on the annual dinners where nasty, far-left comedians insult the President and his staffers, including my daughter, to their faces.

So why are they allowed to pick the reporters who question the President?  Across America, at newspapers, TV and radio stations, websites and blogs, there are thousands of professional journalists working hard at their jobs who would love the chance to question the President.  Why not scrap all the current press passes and set up a lottery system to give all of them a shot?  It would hardly be “suppressing freedom of the press” to give even more journalists a chance to question the President.  And before anyone whines that it would lower the quality of questioning, I would stack the professionalism of any reporter at the Peoria, Illinois, Journal-Star up against Jim Acosta any day – and that includes the obituary writers and the interns.

Concession whether she calls it that or not

Georgia Democratic candidate Stacey Abrams finally ended her campaign against Republican Brian Kemp, after more than a week of counting and recounting, and “finding” and scrounging for votes, and trying to force the state to count improperly-cast votes.  As of Friday morning, the unofficial totals showed Kemp with 50.2%, Abrams with 48.8% and Libertarian Ted Metz with 0.9%.  It was impossible for Abrams to surpass Kemp, but she had hoped that if they just kept counting, in that magical way that the Democrat always gains votes when they’re counted a second or third time, that Kemp would fall below 50%, necessitating a run-off.  Even that was mathematically out of reach.

And so, Abrams gave up an recognized Kemp as the victor, but stressed that she was still not “conceding.”  Instead, she railed that “In the coming days, we will be filing a major federal lawsuit against the state of Georgia for the gross mismanagement of this election and to protect future elections,” thus becoming the living embodiment of the old political axiom that “No Democrat ever lost a ‘fair’ election.”  She joins Ohio Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown (obviously an expert on how Georgians vote), who declared “If Stacey Abrams doesn’t win in Georgia, they stole it.”  Apparently, the Republicans stole it through the dirty, underhanded trick of getting an insurmountably larger number of legitimate votes.

For his part, Kemp (aka “the winner”) put aside political rancor, praised his opponent and encouraged Georgians to unite and work together for a brighter future.  Man, how far behind the times is he?

https://www.westernjournal.com/stacey-abrams-admits-kemp-will-next-governor-georgia-effectively-concedes-race/

Amusing side note:  During the 2016 election, when Donald Trump suggested that she was trying to rig the election, Hillary Clinton lectured, “We are a country based on laws.  And we’ve had hot, contested elections going back to the very beginning, but one of our hallmarks has always been that we accept the outcomes of our elections.”  She said she was “appalled” that a major party candidate would question the results of a US election, calling that a “direct threat to our democracy.”

Since then, she’s spent two years questioning the legitimacy of President Trump’s election, and she said of Abrams, “If she had a fair election, she already would have won.”  Hillary said that Tuesday night at the University of Texas at Austin, where she was accepting an award, I assume for hypocrisy.

And this is the same party that’s wasted millions of tax dollars, and is chomping at the bit to waste millions more, investigating Russian attempts to undermine faith in the American electoral system.  With Democrats like this, the Russians don’t have to lift a finger.

 Ridiculous

After a lifetime of politics, I’m pretty much immune to politicians saying offensive, self-serving things to advance their agendas.  But even I was disgusted at California Sen. Kamala Harris’ attempt to compare the men and women of ICE to the KKK.  ICE agents risk their lives every day facing drug gangs, human traffickers and other illegal border crossers to keep Americans safe and enforce our immigration laws, which were passed and signed by members of both parties.  They also risk their lives rounding up violent criminals who were released from custody in irresponsible “sanctuary cities” or “sanctuary states,” like the one represented by Kamala Harris.

During a confirmation hearing before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, Harris was questioning Trump's nominee to head ICE, Ronald Vitiello, about a 2015 tweet, for which he’s apologized, that likened Democratic tactics to the KKK.  Harris asked if he was aware there was a perception that there are parallels between ICE and the KKK.

You can read the full outrageous exchange at the link. My response would have been something like, “I’m aware that stupid people can harbor ridiculous false perceptions, and that some unscrupulous politicians promote such false perceptions for their own benefit.”

I’m also aware that ICE was created in 2002, under President George W. Bush.  Which means another big difference between ICE and the KKK is that ICE was founded by a Republican.

 RIP Roy Clark

Our prayers and condolences to the family of Country Music Hall of Famer Roy Clark, who died at home in Tulsa on Thursday of complications from pneumonia.  He was 85.

Those who worked with Roy Clark remembered him fondly as a kind, generous, friendly and humble man, always smiling and appreciative of others’ talents.  That decency shone through to TV audiences, as well. Clark once said, "A TV camera goes right through your soul. If you're a bad person, people pick that up. I'm a firm believer in smiles. I used to believe that everything had to be a belly laugh. But I've come to realize that a real sincere smile is mighty powerful."

He may be best remembered as the longtime host of the cornpone comedy series, “Hee-Haw,” but fellow musicians were in awe of his talent on multiple instruments, particularly banjo and guitar.  He could play just about anything, as he proved on stages from Branson, Missouri, to the Grand Old Opry, to the Boston Pops, Carnegie Hall and the Rossiya Theatre in Moscow, where he was one of the first American entertainers to perform in the Soviet Union.

At this link is an obituary with lots of information about Roy Clark’s life and career:

https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/roy-clark-country-music-legend-and-hee-haw-star-dead-at-85

And here’s something unusual.  It’s a video by a British guitarist who analyzes the styles of great players.  In this one, he shows a clip of Roy Clark playing flamenco guitar on an old episode of “The Odd Couple.”  You’ll think that guitar might burst into flames at any moment.  I’m linking directly to the beginning of that scene if you just want to see and hear Roy’s mind-boggling performance.  Or musicians might want to watch the whole thing, to get an appreciation for just how great his talent was and how much other musicians respected him.

Apparently what most people seem to forget is that the Klu Klux Klan was made up mostly of Democrats. The South was made up mostly of Democrats and that's where slavery centered I don't believe a lot of people have been educated enough to realize this.

    Dear Governor Huckabee,
Regarding your article entitled "The rush to reform":
I trust your judgment, so I am puzzled by your support for President Trump's position on First Step legislation in light of information provided in a commentary on "Sandy Rios in the Morning" on AFR today and in the following article, entitled "Trump backs leniency for fentanyl dealers, MS-13 members, etc. Part one" by Paul Mirengoff:
    https://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2018/11/trump-backs-leniency-for-fentanyl-dealers-ms-13-members-etc-part-one.php
I hope you will share your response to Mr. Mirengoff's article with your readers.
    With thanks,

On Kamala Harris, let her Ramble on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just consider that she is of the age to replace older politicians.
So I see her as the new JOE BIDEN in politics. Mumbling, Fumbling Joe.

So glad to see her in Washington and not here in California, but she
    still represents us.
    Really???????
    Just the liberals.

On the Jim Acosta fiasco: He was going to 'challenge' the president (his words)....why does a news media person want to challenge the president of the USA? Isn't he there to gather info. Watched Sunday's Chris Wallace bantering with the president. He asked why the press wouldn't be allowed to ask questions - and referred to as fake news - after all the news like NY Times and CNN were in 'solidarity' with the news. Is he kidding? I have doubts multiplying on Mr. Wallace - he may be referring that they are in solidarity AGAINST the president. Doesn't he listen to their rantings and innuendos on their stations? Wallace interrupted the Prez when he didn't care for the answers - I found him annoying and will probably refrain from watching his newscasts. He never said anything posititive about what Trump is accomplishing - only negatives - who needs more negatives from the news?

Someone else thought of this. I can't take credit for it but I wish I had thought of it. Would the judge that said Acosta must get his press pass back allow him to behave that way in her courtroom? Wouldn't he have been charge with contempt for his abusive behavior? I would bet heavily on that!

I am so sick of the political "reporting" these days, even newsletters by those at one time seemed to reporting the news. All I get these days is, one minute "she conceded" the next, "no, she didn't" to "yes, she did but something about a never before used law" blah blah blah. So, frankly, I erased all emails, skip over newsfeed, and await your newsletter where the information isn't breathtaking (and not always truthful) headlines. That, and your Saturday evening broadcast--which I can watch on Sunday if I miss it on Saturday! Thank you for some down to earth information without all the drama.

why not do a round robin of journalist a different 49 nine each time until everyone has has the chance to be in there then start over. No one would be left out and they could stack the lottery.

Dear Mike, how about a Go Fund Me to build the wall? Or just ask each American to send in a donation to the White House to fund the wall? Skip the congress.

Does the White House have to give Jim Acosta a seat in the front row at press conferences as well? If Acosta was seated in the back, would other reporters or the Correspondents' Assn complain? Why is he given not merely access, but preferential treatment?

Governor Mike, I’ve written before and asked how can we get something done about voter fraud claims. I write my senators constantly asking them to write bills and laws for voter ID and find solutions to this recount stuff at every election. I ask and ask to no vail. 2020 is just around the corner, here we go again; voter fraud claims and he said she said, and so much childish games to look forward to. So many people can’t get it into their heads there is a winner and a loser in every contest. In this world of technology can’t we eliminate all these doubts? Thanks for reading.

VOTING. I suggest that some wealthy conservative, the anti Soros, will hurry up and start a clean vote initiative. I’d like to start with a conference that brings together EVERY Secretary of State. Talk about standards and cleaning up the voter roles. How we can ensure the American people of an honest election. Every State!! I am a Maine voter, but MD will not take me off their roles where I also have a home, same with my son who moved to DC. Anyone who knows my name address and birthday can go vote for me. WRONG. SCARY. Please help make this happen.

Abrams lose is now compared to most "sore looser's" who cry foul when they do not like an outcome...TIE UP THE TAXPAYERS MONIES IN COURT! That's good for the STATE OF GA...make them spend tons of $$$ to defend the PEOPLE'S CHOICE. she wanted recognition, like Hitlery, of being the 1st....not this time lady loser. The people have spoken and your "case" should be dismissed.

I agree that there should be different news people at the WHITEHOUSE. I have often wondered why they only have Left Wing. Why not Half and Half? All it is a sparing competition. To take down Trump by getting him angry. Boring. I don’t bother listening to the reporters anymore. Just the President ‘s speeches.
The Libs are trying to silence Trump because he is a Truth Teller. The Libs do not recognize truth because they are working for the father of all lies. I mean Satan not Obama. O is just one of Satan’s puppets.

It's certainly been an interesting and conflicting week of news like the ones you commented on. Sen. Harris needs to study history before questioning anyone on the comparison of the heroic deeds of Border Patrol being similar with KKK. The Democrats started the KKK, not Republicans. We are proud of our Border Patrol. As for CNN, they were a well respected news channel but have now gone down the slippery slope and fell in with the Deep State. The saga will continue. Have a very HAPPY THANKSGIVING. Will catch your show on TBN Sunday night.

It had a strong round tone. Still saying you need to go to a 90 minute format. Don't forget to tell your readers and watchers what we can do to protect our vote. May the Lord bless our country , you and yours and all of your supporters on this Thanksgiving. Praying and playing my '76 fretless P bass. e/c
