NOTE: Look for my thoughts on Nancy Pelosi's impeachment announcement tomorrow... These comments were written before she made the news.

Must-see Video: Charlie Kirk of Turning Point USA (who has been a guest on “Huckabee” on TBN) took his camera to an anti-Trump protest where the demonstrators were, naturally, denouncing Trump as a racist.  He asked them if they could name anything specific Trump has done that is racist.

Response: “If you don’t know, there’s no point in discussing it.”  (Incidentally, that transparent evasion never makes sense: if someone doesn’t know something, that’s the best reason for discussing it with them.  But I digress.)

The protesters then ask Kirk why he would support Trump. He rattles off a long list of verifiable accomplishments that are positive for all Americans, including the lowest-ever unemployment rates for blacks and Hispanics.

Responses: one said, “Oh my God, you’re so brainwashed,” then another shouts, “Hitler!”  Apparently, they’re so brainwashed they don't even realized they've been brainwashed to call Trump both “racist” and “Hitler,” no matter how inappropriate the circumstances (remember how Hitler worked so hard to lower the Jewish unemployment rate and release unjustly incarcerated Jews?  Neither do I.)

Read the entire article and watch the video to see how this farce ended.  Of course, we won’t know how it really all worked out until we see the black and Hispanic vote for Trump in 2020, which I have a feeling will blow their well-scrubbed minds.

By “Huckabee” writer/pop culture guru Pat Reeder (

I’m a pop culture guru/music historian/record collector and writer of news and topical humor, but I also used to be the editor/columnist of the North Texas Skeptic newsletter (yes, I actually hang out with scientists for fun.)  As part of chronicling pseudoscience stories, I had to do lots of research into hysterical movements and what we call “the madness of crowds.”  This covers a lot of territory, from witch burnings to people going bankrupt buying tulip bulbs.  This linked article is about how the MeToo movement follows the standard script for a hysterical panic, but it also applies to the “climate crisis” panic:

The only difference between those historic hysterics and the kids crying on CNN about the Earth dying is that the advent of mass media has helped allow innocent youths to be specifically targeted for a planned panic carefully orchestrated over a long period of time by people seeking to use them to advance their own power and political agenda (if you don’t know who I’m talking about, look at the protest signs they handed out to kids and note the socialist website URLs.)

If I could say anything that these hysterical kids would actually listen to, it would be to tell them that their elders are not uncaring about the fate of the planet (believe me, the environments of capitalist nations are cleaner than they were 40 years ago.) It’s just that we’ve lived through these scams designed to panic us dozens of times, and we, and the planet, are still here.  We know when we’re being played (well, some of us, at least; others are incapable of learning from experience.)

Now, the reason this has strayed into my pop culture area is that a radical enviro group called Extinction Rebellion has just started playing the David Bowie song “Five Years” at its protests because (quoting Wikipedia) “of the striking connection between the lyrics of the song (amount of time left/we must never fly again) and one of their demands, ‘to reduce carbon emissions to net zero by 2025.’"

Here is an excerpt from the lyrics of “Five Years”|:

“Pushing through the market square,
So many mothers sighing
News had just come over,
We had five years left to cry in.

News guy wept and told us,
Earth was really dying
Cried so much his face was wet,
Then I knew he was not lying…

We've got five years, stuck on my eyes
Five years, what a surprise
We've got five years, my brain hurts a lot
Five years, that's all we've got…”

That track is the opening cut of the great classic rock album, “The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars.” I also urge all young people to listen to this album.  Not only will it teach them that music can have melodies, intelligent lyrics, real musicianship and not be robotic, ephemeral garbage, but they will also discover that it was released in 1972.

Think about it: 1972 was 47 years ago.  I’ll bet “Extinction Rebellion” doesn’t tell its crowds of deluded young followers that Bowie’s original five-year deadline for the Earth’s extinction passed 42 years ago, and they’re still using the same song to tell us we only have “FIVE YEARS!  FIVE YEARS! FIVE YEARS!...”

Five years from now, when nothing has changed (other than I bet the world will be cleaner yet), will they just play the same song again and still claim we only have five years from "NOW"?  Or will they get whatever pop star is hot with gullible teenagers at the time to rerecord it as “Ten Years”?

Friday, hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of high school students around the world skipped class to protest “climate change,” although I have no exact numbers on the participation or on how many seriously believe the world is going to end in 10 years and how many just wanted to skip class.  Hey, I grew up in the Vietnam era, so don’t tell me that never happens.

I feel that I should try to point out to these kids that much of the “climate science” that’s been spoon-fed to them is hysterical, apocalyptic junk science, based on computer models that have never been remotely correct in their predictions.  Also that much of it comes the same leftist fear-mongers who’ve been making failed doomsday predictions for half a century (allow me to share this list again: ) In fact, if these students really believe these predictions, then I have a couple of dozen cans of tuna in my pantry that I’ll happily sell to them for $80 apiece, the price I was assured they would be going for by the end of the ‘80s, when the oceans would all be dead (plus 30 years worth of inflation, of course.)

But rather than trying to allay their hysterical fears with facts, science and history, I’ll rather point out the most horrifying aspect of this story: the way we have allowed our schools and the mass media to terrify an entire generation of young people into thinking they have no futures. Of course, we should be good stewards of God's creation, and in fact, humans have long since started doing a better job of that.  The environment is cleaner now than it was 40 years ago, particularly in capitalist counties; the big polluters are socialist/communist nations like China. Free market capitalism is what's lifting people out of poverty while creating market incentives to develop cleaner and more efficient technology and energy sources.

From the many professionally-printed protest signs reading “We demand climate justice” (incidentally, how many trees had to be cut and how much CO2 released to make, print and distribute those worldwide?), it’s obvious this was no grassroots protest organized by teens.  It was a cynical manipulation of young people by a well-organized radical political movement that's been playing a long game of exploiting kids to promote its own agenda and achieve power.  It’s a formula articulated nearly a century ago by actual journalist H.L. Mencken, who famously said that the whole aim of politics is to keep the people frightened and clamoring to be led to safety from a series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.

It is heartbreaking to watch teenagers, who should be grateful to live when and where they do and be optimistic about the fantastic opportunities and advances they enjoy, instead lamenting that the Earth is dying, they have no future, and they don’t even want to have children of their own because they’ll just be suffering in an environmental hellscape. Filling their heads with that stuff isn’t merely mideducation or propaganda, it’s outright child abuse.

And all over a theoretical increase of a fraction of a degree in average temperatures, an environmental apocalypse so horrific that it somehow hasn’t prevented its biggest promoters from taking private jets to eco-conferences and buying oceanfront mansions.

Hey, kids, you know who is famous signing that there was “no future?” Punk rock icon Johnny Rotten.  He first sang that in 1976.  Forty-three years later, the world is still here, and in most ways is safer, healthier, cleaner and more peaceful and prosperous then it was then.  As for Johnny, he’s now 63 and married to a publishing heiress with homes in both London and California, he’s been called a British “national treasure,” and he recently said of Donald Trump, "What I dislike is the left-wing media in America are trying to smear the bloke as a racist and that's completely not true."

Good thing Johnny didn’t believe his own claim that there was “no future” and give up because he ended up having a pretty full and interesting future.  And so will young people today, as long as they don’t listen to false prophets of doom trying to panic them into signing over their futures to a bunch of power-mad socialists who want to severely limit what their futures can be.

Racism and the way the liberal media tries to twist all of this onto Pres Trump. All the years of his business his TV shows and all kinds of people he has been involved with never believe he is any racist. Just go and see his business and all the different types of people ? This is a racist? More of what the liberal press is pushing forward to try to divide the political groups and make the blacks and browns against the privilege whites. Amazing where I live in the mtns of Georgia I do not see very many privileged whites pretty poor and hard working to survive? Becoming now a little tiresome and when you see the cities that were controlled by Demos for so many years that are suffering WHY?

I've had enough of the media--even FOX--enough of the hysterical sore losers in Congress--enough of the Hollywood has beens giving their ignorant opinions. There is no TRUTH in the media anywhere--it makes me sick to my stomach to hear these Congressional morons talk about getting to the truth--when it's staring them in the face. For my own sanity I am not watching any of it. My vote remains with Trump because he is the only one doing anything for the country. The dem in Democrat stands for dementia!

    Just for your own edification, google " sunspot activity vs temperature ". You'll see that the graphs move almost in lockstep - going back to 1860 in one graph. If these idiots were instead arguing for energy efficiency, no one could argue against them - and they might actually accomplish something...I wrote " might " ;-}

We are seeing the same stratagy from the democrats playbook as Hitler used before
we went over and took charge of WWII. They kept lying to the people until they believed what they said and believed that gave them the right to murder more than
5 million Jews and other people.

After seeing the video of that young girl crying and being absolutely terrified about the earth ending, thanks to the Dems, it made my blood boil. It is absolutely unconscionable for anyone to use a vulnerable child to promote their own political end. Now, who's deplorable??

Please please please educate everyone about how an impeachment inquiry works. I feel this is a attempt to shield Biden and muddy Trumps re-election which I feel he will be re-elected. I think the American public is sick of the constant harassment of our president.

    Dear Governor,
Well...first (as far as I am concerned) the young lady at the U.N....has been brain-washed (if any of us did this to our child....that child would be removed from our care by social services....because this is clearly child abuse)...and she is now being USED by many people to "float" their end times climate change hysteria....and their main objective is to demonize the USA.....probably one of the least polluters in the entire world. Perhaps she should have addressed her remarks to the Chinese government.

Secondly, those "true believing" young people (and their teachers-who should be ashamed)...flood the streets in cities protesting our way of life...and demanding so many "pie in the sky" changes. My questions to these students are:
    1) Why are you parading around with signs made with wood....and not out planting bushes and trees?

    2) Why are you not engaged in actual land management processes....such as when a tornado demolishes a forested area; helping responsible and environmentally knowledgeable loggers remove the devastated trees, plant new ones, so that in coming years a lightening strike will not start an uncontrollable fire? (As that which happened in Boundary Waters Canoe Area in Northern MN several years ago);

    3) Why are you not concerned about picking up refuse and waste and litter from city streets or even beaches? Like so many conservatives recently did in CA cities? (Zero media coverage on THOSE true environmentalists!).

    4) Where do you think the electricity originates for things such as electeic cars? you prefer going back to the days of "horse and buggy"? Oh...wait...can't do that....I believe horses may be one of the estimated 200 species of mammals that are "cud-chewing"....therefore methane producers.....( is NOT from the other is from the MOUTHS of those species.)
And...apparently nobody has been educated--as the estimated 200 species include animals such as cows (both dairy and cattle), giraffs, gazelles, bison....just to name a few.
And....late 1700-early 1800's when settlers began introducing cows into the continental USA there were an estimated 60 million bison. A bison emits twice as much methane as any approximately 80-90 million cows now, it is possible we actually have LESS methane producing species in the USA than at that time.
How did so many current educators become so irresponsible, so brainwashed?

I too am of the "Vietnam generation"..... and that now looks extremely mild compared to what is happening in this country today.

Well done! Reminiscent of the rhetoric espoused throughout my college years (1970's) - the same repackaged lies about destroying the planet by (irresponsibly, gasp) having children! We fall short with this generation in teaching them the value of serving God and country, and taking pride in their work (do any of these protestors hold regular jobs?) My parents taught me that a person is only as good as their word, a most valuable measure of truth. Much prayer needed for our youth!

Climate---you have completely missed the point here--The US HAS reduced climate emissions---BUT others have NOT--If we(US) are saddled with the lead in this(or ANY other thrust), then we have failed to convince the "others" to do the same as we have--I believe that is a thrust we should be championing--and we are not.--We are negating all the advances we have achieved in the last few years in our Country--blasting the kids is a non return philosophy--you of anyone should know better--

I wonder how many kids actually went to the protests--well, maybe long enough for some free snacks--then perhaps off to the nearest frizbee park, or maybe someone's house. And, along with the poster kids for gun control (the FL dufus) now the Swedish girl--I can't believe all these young folks aren't googling stuff. Well, I guess they might be getting their ideas from google if what pops up is leftist stuff. But, you'd think they'd look up information, instead of just reading some signs and listening to some leftist teacher. For sure, they haven't looked up what accomplishments President Trump's administration has done so far.....and I'd guess many of them haven't even tried (or even wanted to) to find employment, regardless of race or gender.

An earlier children's crusade - 1212 - ended badly when the children from France reached the Mediteranean Sea, expecting God to part the waters so they could walk to the Holy land. When the waters did not part, merchants offered to take them to Jerusalem on ships, but instead took the children to Tunisa where they were sold into slavery. I know none of thee kids has studied history, but they better be aware that in addition to the hucksters who conned them into 'protesting", there are others who will cause them greater harm.
