Three words causing a stir...

October 13, 2017

Every four years, the Department of Health and Human Services releases a new strategic plan, and the first one under President Trump contains three words that are causing a stir. It says, “HHS accomplishes its mission through programs and initiatives that cover a wide spectrum of activities, serving and protecting Americans at every stage of life, beginning at conception.”

The phrase “beginning at conception” has feminists and liberals fuming that it’s a violation of Roe v. Wade, and that the Trump HHS will likely use that phrase to deny birth control to poor women. But Nancy Flanders of the pro-life site LiveAction wrote, “It signifies that at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services knows and accepts the truth, that life begins at conception (fertilization). Pro-life activists have said it for decades, scientists have proved it, and abortion supporters have denied and flat-out ignored it, but it’s true: life begins the moment a new human life is created – at fertilization. HHS is committed to protecting those lives.”

I’d just point out that as with many liberal positions, this requires defenders to twist themselves into logical knots. I’m sure that the same people who argue that life doesn’t begin at conception would scream just as loudly if HHS cut all pre-natal programs. But why be concerned with the health of a baby that’s not even born yet? Its life hasn’t even started, right? Instead, they want it both ways: government aid for prenatal care to protect the health of a woman’s baby if she wants it, but no aid for the fetus because it’s not even alive yet if she doesn’t want it.

This seems like just another variation on all arguments for abortion: that convenience takes precedence over obvious medical facts.

I burst out laughing when I read "beginning at conception" as I visualized liberals heads exploding. Over 20 years ago, I was in the pro-life movement and wondered how women could pretend life was not happening in the womb. Even on Sesame Street, they taught: "everything LIVING, grows"... and no woman ever gave birth to a chicken... what exactly did people think was happening in the womb? Common sense - isn't.

The old adage is still true today "There are none so blind as those who refuse to see". Like so many of the liberal positions, only what they wish to see is declared as truth, while the mass amount of facts, the complete story, the balanced view, are all left howling at the mind's gate to be let in. Hate has always been built on half-truths as well as down right lies.

What's really frightening is that they don't seem to know what conception means. Birth control prevents conception. If the egg doesn't get fertilized by the sperm there is no conception, no fetus, no life, no problem. So the only form of birth control covered in that statement is abortion.

I am 74 years old and I'm so glad that abortion wasn't popular when I was growing up. If it was around, it was "hush, hush" as many bad things were in those days. I became pregnant and had my son when I was barely sixteen. His father would have married me but I was
wise enough to not make a second mistake. No one ever mentioned abortion and I would not have done that anyway. My parents helped me raise my son. When I met my husband, he accepted my son as his own and wanted to give him his last name. We had four other children and they were all a blessing. The Bible says, Children are a blessing from the Lord and it really doesn't matter how that child was conceived, they deserve the chance to live. Also, there are many families out there longing for a child to love. The government should cut some of the red tape involved in adoption.

Logically, anyone with commonsense, knows that what is growing is alive!
So these Pro Abortion women are nothing more than butchers.
Have their fun in bed with this guy or that, and, get rid of the "evidence".
The living growing "evidence" within them.
I am a woman. A mother. A grandmother now. I know how precious
life is, and yes, I am a Christian as well.

Thank you, Mr. Huckabee, for giving us truth!! So refreshing. One of our Supreme Court Justices once said about abortion, "WHERE IS THE MORAL OUTCRY??" Well, now there is a moral outcry sounding. Oct 6-9th, there were thousands of believers from every one of the 50 states filling 58 tents, praying and worshiping on the national mall, 24 hours a day. (Yes, you may wonder, why didn't the media cover such an historic, interesting event??) Oct. 9th, there was special prayer to end abortion. A lawyer spoke to us about his plan to petition the Supreme Court to reverse Roe vs Wade. To read more and help by signing a petition that IS BEING PRESENTED to the Supreme Court soon, go to themoraloutcry.com. Sign the petition and keep on praying! This is a spiritual battle! And the battle must begin with believers who need to truly change their own hearts toward children. We need to get rid of our own attitudes that we shouldn't have children, they are a burden, etc. etc. I have seen it so strongly among believers!! We must start in our own hearts. Then we can win this battle!!!

I had a former friend I tried to be supportive in the beginning, but when I realized that abortion was her preferred form of birth control on several occasions, and not accidents, I felt quite ill.

Oddly enough, I believe if someone truly believe a fetus is nothing but an extension of her own body, either they are ignorant, lazy (refusing to do or listen to factual research), or trying to convince themselves there is nothing to be guilty about, but no better.

I'm not talking about sincere accidents or rape, but to clear your conscience with the excuse abortion is a justified form of birth control is quite selfish.

I'm glad to see so many are fighting to welcome God into our lives and homes, schools, etc., again.

Thank you for being a rare but decent politician.

Thank you for the clarity on this issue. Of course life begins at conception. Nothing else makes sense. Our God is a God who makes sense. Have been praying for many years for this awful abortion holocaust in our nation and around the world to end.. I feel that I am beginning to see the daylight at the end of this very long, sad tunnel.

Hip Hip Hooray! Prayed for this for a long time. Time for women to take control of their own bodies, protect themselves, and not get pregnant until ready to accept that responsibility. A baby shouldn't have to die because of irresponsibility.

No conservative would deny birth control to any poor women, but abortion is not birth control. It is murder. Yes, life begins as conception, yet "pro-choice" advocates deny this scientific fact. Perhaps we "climate deniers" should call them "life deniers".

People forget that when a baby is aborted, not only is a life taken, but also a future -a future that may have resulted in that life becoming a doctor or scientist who may be the one who discovers a cure for cancer, or diabetes, or any other life-threatening illness. And what if that cure healed someone in their own family. Then I highly doubt the pro-abortionists would have the same attitude, or maybe they would, because they don't consider the fetus to be a life anyway.

Thrilled to hear this - we as Christians, Conservatives, Believers, HUMAN BEINGS have been rolling over & taking it from the Left and all factions subversive to what is right & good before God too long. They have been destroying Life literally in all aspects and we have been allowing - time to stop it, stop lying down, rolling over & taking it. It's our lives, our children's lives, the fundamental character & nature of society we are talking - a society we all have have our lives in & prepare the lives of our children and grandchildren - no more weaseling out - no more blind passive acceptance. Fight back to the continuous relentless horrors perpetrated on us & our families by ppl who serve the god of evil & prince of this world.

Keep putting the truth out there. The inconsistences are blatant to those of us who know the truth. Hopefully those who just blindly accept the leftist rhetoric will also come across your articles and some who actually think will have their eyes opened! God bless you!

The people who demand that Abortion on Demand is both their Party Platform and their Constitutional right create a culture that leads to both men and women who assume that women are 'better off' having an abortion. They advertise abortion; but they call it 'Women's Health.' What they fail to admit, time and again, is that abortions can lead to higher rates of Breast Cancer. Then, these same people then go out to strip clubs to both admire and toss money at women's breasts! They then ask their Liberal City Planning Board to approve a liquor license under the guise that a Strip Club is a restaurant, simply by serving fruit in a cup. Any woman who opines that "fruit in a cup does not a restaurant make" is then ridiculed by both local law enforcement and local citizens. It happened in Boulder, Colorado; and that is no lie! Frequently, the local Democrat Sheriff is writes the local newspaper and pushes for an end to Term Limits; so he can keep a steady flow of damaged people in his jail. He makes his money off of tragedies that he helps create. I will be elated to see Roe v. Wade overturned! Roe v. Wade was invented to reduce the number of non-white and/or "poor" children in the United States; and THAT is beyond racist. It is pure evil.

I never approved of abortion and am thrilled with seeing it changed so innocent children will have the opportunity to live. There are millions who have been sacrificed. How many of these would have been a possible answer for bettering humanity by discovering life changing medical advances? Stopping abortion is the one thing that will give us a chance for avoiding further judgment from our Creator. God bless those who are brave enough to stand for "right to life".
