Our pop culture guru Pat Reeder says he can quote a line from “Gone With The Wind” to fit any situation in life, and his pick for this story is Rhett Butler’s, “You’re like the thief who isn't the least bit sorry he stole, but is terribly, terribly sorry he's going to jail.”

The story is that attorneys for former FBI lawyer Kevin Clinesmith are pleading with a judge not to give him jail time for lying to secure surveillance warrants against Trump 2016 campaign adviser Carter Page. He didn’t mean to do anything wrong; why, he just “cut a corner” because he was “overworked” and “exhausted.” I'm surprised he didn't use the classic DC excuse: “Mistakes were made!” In Washington, mistakes make themselves, and there’s nothing you can do to stop them.

If he was so tired and overworked, then why did he go to the additional effort of editing an email to falsify evidence so that he could obtain an unjustified warrant to spy on an innocent American? Take a look at how the inner circle of anti-Trump agents set up Mike Flynn and tried to railroad him into prison, and tell me with a straight face that if they had been able to find anything on Page with those falsely-obtained warrants that they wouldn’t have tried to slap him behind bars, too.

Clinesmith is facing a potential five years in prison because this is not a minor “oopsy” offense. This is falsifying evidence to deceive the FISA court into violating the rights of a US citizen. And it’s done by someone in a position of trust and authority in the top law enforcement agency of the federal government. He’s hardly the only one who should face serious consequences; he’s just the lowest fall guy on the list.

So I hope that after his lawyers hand the judge all those feeble excuses for why he shouldn’t face serious punishment, that the judge will also quote Rhett Butler and say, “Frankly…I don’t give a d**n.”

Anybody who knowingly falsely accuses another of a crime, creates false evidence should suffer the consequences that the falsely accused would suffer plus 10 years, knowingly is not the same as an honest mistake.

Everybody at the FBI is crooked. After all their murders and character assassinations, perjuries, and coverups, NOT ONE whistleblower has surfaced.
They always blame some "rogue," but they're crooked, 100%, top to bottom.
Every stinking one of them would sell their mother to ISIS for a promotion or to protect their pension.

If Mr. Clinesmith would implicate those above him who were involved in all this, it would be a very easy decision to cut his penalty or give him immunity! The American people are so weary of all this! We....the average American work, pay their taxes, and try to do everything to support our country. And now we are watching our country being sold down the river! We are tired! We want and need to see justice meted out! This is a travesty!

He should tell the judge that obama, the clintons, bidens, kerry and the scads of other obama administration traitors never went to jail, got their hands slapped or stood in a corner for their indiscretions. So why should he do time when laws are clearly for the peons. That would be a much better line to feed the judge.

I don't believe for a minute that he, a lawyer, didn't know what he was doing or what he was involved in. Of course not all lawyers graduate at the top of their class. Some graduate at the bottom and some have "help" to get jobs in the government. He wasn't THAT stupid or overworked. He hedged his bets and he lost. He needs to be tried and if found guilty, suffer the consequences/prison time. That way he will have plenty of rest for his "overworked" and "exhausted" state and he will have plenty of time to think about what he did and further, where he will spend eternity.

The FBI has lost all credibility. This was an attempt to overthrow our president and government. Many FBI members and other government officials should be in prison already.
If I were ever called to jury duty and the FBI were to testify, I would disregard their testimony.

It’s so disgusting to see the FBI people who was so steeped in corruption & never spent a day in jail. They sent many innocent people to prison, knowing they were innocent yet they expect to be like they did nothing wrong. I guess when you’ve been a criminal for many years & never had to pay, you just think you are indispensable.
