Today's Edition: 7 minute read
Saturday marks the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing, one of the greatest achievements in the history of mankind (or the herstory of humankind? No wait, that’s still not gender-neutral and non-species-ist. In the entirety of carbon-based-lifeformdom? Would that pass muster in Berkeley?)
The reason for cluttering up such an important topic with a lot of ridiculous PC gibberish is because that’s apparently what we’re now supposed to do, according to those once great newspapers, the New York Times and the Washington Post. As we prepare to celebrate the half-century mark of the astounding accomplishment of putting Americans on the moon and bringing them home safely, the liberal press seems chiefly concerned with the races and genders of the astronauts and technicians, and comparing America unfavorably to the admirable “wokeness” of the Soviet Union's space program.
Iranian drone shot down
By Mike Huckabee
President Trump announced yesterday that the United States Navy shot down an Iranian drone that was flying over the Strait of Hormuz and came within 1,000 yards of an American amphibious assault ship, the USS Boxer. See more details at the link.
This is the latest in a series of provocations by Iran. The destruction of the drone was followed by a warning from Trump that the US “reserves [the] right to defend our personnel, facilities, [and] condemn Iran’s attempts to disrupt freedom of navigation and global commerce.”
Worth noting: while Trump’s detractors try to paint him as a loose cannon who would get the US into countless wars, he’s actually followed through on his promises to finish the job where need be (such as crushing ISIS), then bring troops home, while expecting other nations to carry their share of the load in preserving the peace. He even added that other nations should “protect their ships as they go through the Strait and work with us in the future,” to let other nations know that he doesn’t expect to have to deal with Iran alone, and to let Iran know they’re not just provoking the US, which would be suicidal enough.
You can tell from watching his firm but subdued comments that he’s not at all anxious to get into a war with Iran, but if Iran insists on picking a fight, the results won’t be pretty for them. If he has to take military action, the days are long gone when the US President announced in advance exactly where we would send half as many troops as needed and the date when we would give up and pull out. If Iran or anyone else insists on picking a fight with the US, all they will know in advance is that we’ll send enough troops to win to wherever they need to go to win, and we’ll come home after the other side is thoroughly defeated. That’s what a military action used to mean, and now it does again.
Scherie Murray, Part II
By Mike Huckabee
I told you yesterday about Scherie Murray, a New York businesswoman who is black, a Jamaican immigrant, and challenging Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for her House seat as a Republican. Well, anyone who thinks that district is so blue, it’s not worth fighting for didn’t tell her. She already has a beautifully-produced video on YouTube introducing herself and blasting the incumbent.
To be clear: there are already five Republicans who have announced challenges to AOC, and I am not endorsing any particular one (other than to say that any one of them would be light years better than AOC, as would just about anyone picked at random out of the Queens phone book.)
I just want you to watch this because it shows that Republicans are dead serious about not letting AOC have that seat to continue ignoring her constituents, promoting herself and spewing socialist, blame-America propaganda for the next 50 years (if we last that long with her in Washington.) They refuse to accept the conventional wisdom that that seat is safely Democratic, at least not when the Democrat who’s currently “occupying” it is so unconventionally divisive and awful.
Secondly, she’s an extremely interesting GOP candidate to watch because her race, gender and background make her immune to AOC’s standard line of attack: that anyone who disagrees with her is a racist who hates immigrants and “women of color.”
Also note that the video was posted only two days ago and already has over 316,000 views. Granted, that’s worldwide, but it does show a lot of interest for a "no-chance" candidate in a one-party district, and I have to think interest is even more intense locally. That 316,000 views is nearly three times the number of votes that AOC got in 2018 (it was actually fewer than 17,000 active supporters who won her the primary and an automatic win in the general election as the Democratic candidate), and there are over 712,000 residents in the district.
I’m sure many of my readers will find the video a bit too touchy-feely and short on red meat conservative issues. But someone like Ted Cruz would never win in New York District 14, even against AOC. The important thing is to restore sanity. Those voters have been conditioned to believe that Republicans are raging racist monsters, yet they elected the Democrat and got a raging, race-baiting monster. If they watch this video and compare Scherie Murray to what they’ve seen of AOC so far, it just might lift a lot of blinders off a lot of eyes. Maybe they'll prove Nancy Pelosi wrong, and a Republican might actually have a chance against a glass of water with a "D" after its name.
Obama's "Cadillac" tax repealed
By Mike Huckabee
Believe it or not, amid all the partisan rancor in Washington, House Democrats and Republicans actually agreed on something this week and passed a bill by 419-6. It’s virtually certain to pass the Senate and be signed by President Trump. And brace yourself: it was a bill to repeal yet another part of the Obama legacy.
It was Obamacare’s 40% tax on so-called “Cadillac” health insurance plans that provide benefits beyond those of standard plans. The idea was to keep health care costs down by discouraging expensive plans. Or as Republicans (and even many Democrats, especially those with superior union health benefits) called it, denying choice, reducing quality of care, and punishing people for wanting better health coverage.
The only people still defending it were economists who pointed to a CBO report that repealing it will cost the government $196.9 billion over 10 years. That’s suspect for two reasons: first, it never went into effect, so it hasn’t cost the government anything. And second, and this is my pet peeve: instead of saying that repealing a tax would “cost” the government $196.9 billion over ten years, how about saying that the tax would have cost taxpayers $196.9 billion? Ironically, that’s how much more people would have been paying for health insurance because of a bill that allegedly was meant to lower health insurance costs.
To any voters thinking you seriously want to bring back the Obama/Biden years, stop and remember, this is what they were really like. Would you rather have a $196.6 billion tax bill on your health insurance or a President who sometimes sends tweets that make CNN anchors cry?

If you’re fed up with famous athletes grandstanding and virtue-signaling their leftwing “wokeness” by refusing to come to the White House because Trump is President, then here’s a heartwarming antidote for that. Watch what happened when the President, Vice President and their wives welcome members of Team USA’s delegation to the 2019 World Games of the Special Olympics to the White House.
This week, it was announced that former Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens had died at 99. Even though Stevens was generally considered part of the liberal wing of the SCOTUS and had publicly criticized President Trump, and Trump critics always claim that he’s classless and attacks anyone who criticizes him, click the link to see how Trump reacted to the news of Justice Stevens’ passing.
A judge has denied billionaire pervert Jeffrey Epstein bail after federal agents searched his Manhattan luxury apartment and found a safe containing a stash of cash, diamonds and a passport from a foreign country.
Then again, do you really need that much evidence to figure out that a billionaire with a private plane known as the “Lolita Express” is the very definition of a “flight risk”?
