Much of Monday’s news was dominated by the coverage of the fake news over the Catholic school boys and the Native American activist in Washington, the unconscionable hatred and violent rhetoric aimed at children over a story that wasn’t even true, and the furious backpedaling and Tweet-deleting by those who rushed to condemn without first making sure they had the facts (and who might be more fearful of lawsuits than conscience-stricken.)

But if there’s one thing you can always count on from the hard-core left, it’s the absolute refusal to admit they are wrong.  There are still some out there, bitterly clinging to the narrative that was shattered by the video and witness testimony; still trying to dig up anything to make the case that the boys are really racists or that they were the ones who initiated the confrontation (even though they were the ones who were accosted -- and in showing admirable restraint, they exhibited far more maturity than any of the so-called “adults” who rushed to attack them on scant and misleading evidence.)  Just as with the pro-abortion lobby that insists against all scientific evidence that a baby in the womb is just a clump of cells, they refuse to let facts influence their conclusions.

"The world is gonna end in 12 years..."

By Mike Huckabee

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez remains the gift that keeps on giving…to Republicans.  At a Martin Luther King Day forum for Millennials in New York, she drew cheers from the crowd for declaring that it’s immoral for society to allow billionaires to exist when there are poor people in Alabama, and that “the America that we’re living in today is dystopian, with people sleeping in their cars so they can work a second job without healthcare.”

Pray for Bret and his family

By Mike Huckabee

Monday, while driving on icy roads during a ski trip to Montana, Fox News anchor Bret Baier, his wife and two sons were involved in a serious car wreck and their vehicle turned over.  Fortunately, they were all wearing seat belts. A man driving by stopped and helped them out of the vehicle, and first responders and the Montana Highway Patrol got Bret and his family to the hospital.

He tweeted later:

“My advice to everyone is to always wear your seatbelt and to count your blessings everyday. I tweeted this out as we left the hospital banged up, but alive. Don’t take anything for granted – every day is a blessing and family is everything. It’s always good to remind yourself of that before something does it for you."

Thank God that Bret and his family are safe, and thanks to all those who helped them get to safety.  I hope you’ll join me in sending prayers and good wishes for their speedy recovery. And with dangerous winter weather threatening large swathes of the nation, please keep his advice in mind if you have to drive in it.

More like Europe

By Mike Huckabee

 Maybe President Trump should have let Speaker Pelosi and her fellow Democrats take that junket to Brussels.  They could have learned about all the money the EU gave Turkey to stop the flow of refugees into Europe, and how much of it was spent on a 10-foot security wall hundreds of miles long, guarded by machine gun crews and armored patrol vehicles. Hey, Democrats want America to be more like Europe!

Kamala Harris announces run for President

By Mike Huckabee

A lot of things shut down for Martin Luther King Day, but some things must go on every day, like train service, radio broadcasts and the announcement of new Democratic Presidential candidates.  Monday’s was California Sen. Kamala Harris.  There’s not a lot to set her apart from the horde thus far: she’s virulently anti-Trump; far to the left; from a deep blue state; backs government health care (in her case, Bernie Sanders’ “Medicare for All” plan), sanctuary cities and legalized pot; wants to raise taxes on corporations and “the rich;” and has a resume consisting entirely of government positions.

She also claims to be running to restore “American Values,” but I don’t think most Americans would agree with her ideas on what those are or how to defend them.  Like, I don’t think you stand up for “decency, equality, and freedom,” by attacking someone for being Catholic.

Fasten your seatbelt for "Mr. Trump's Wild Ride"

By Mike Huckabee

In preparation for an interview I’ll be doing soon on my TBN show with CBS’s chief White House correspondent Major Garrett, I examined his latest book, “MR. TRUMP’S WILD RIDE:  The Thrills, Chills, Screams and Occasional Blackouts of an Extraordinary Presidency.”  I might not have wasted my time with the typical Trump book by the typical mainstream media-type, but Garrett has sincerely tried his best to present an even-handed assessment of the first part of Trump’s presidency.  Given these viciously polarized times, I have to give him some credit for even attempting that.

And let’s give him credit for a great, evocative title as well.  Thinking back to the1990s when Bill and Hillary were in the White House, I remember we could have characterized the Clinton years in much the same way.  Back then, we really did have “scandal fatigue” with the Clintons, as it was just one scandal after another and they were NOT created, as Hillary tried to claim, by “a vast right-wing conspiracy.”  But the period we’re living through now is even more intense.  Some say that Trump is facing the most negative media since Abraham Lincoln.  And this time, the weird thing is that there isn’t even any actual Trump scandal that we know of, just a lot of frantic searching for...something, anything...by those who fervently oppose him and will do whatever it takes to damage him and, ultimately, unseat him.

Ainsworth:  Leftists, this is no way to honor Dr. King

By Laura Ainsworth, Staff writer

"We have a hater in the White House.  The Birther-In-Chief.  The Grand Wizard of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.  One of the things that we’ve learned is that while Jim Crow may be dead, he’s still got some nieces and nephews that are alive and well.”

It was rhetoric like this that ruled on Martin Luther King, Jr., Day, and Dr. King deserved better.  This is absolutely the last straw for me.  Though I typically hesitate to comment in print on racial issues because it’s so easy to be misunderstood and end up with protesters screaming in one’s front yard, I just can’t sit by any longer and listen to this.  The remark above comparing the President of the United States to a leader of the Ku Klux Klan was made on Monday by Democratic Rep. Hakeem Jeffries of New York, chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, at an event supposedly honoring Dr. King, and Rep. Jeffries should be ashamed of himself.  Everyone who is spewing atrocities like this should be ashamed.  Oh, but they won’t be.  They’re proud of themselves for “speaking truth to power,” when what they’re speaking is not truth but just a steaming shovelful.

Holy Love

By Anonymous

A newsletter reader facing terminal cancer submitted this beautiful sonnet about how facing death has deepened his faith.

My soul wants to cry for aid
under a lowering sky.
But that's not how this game is played,
for I am marked to die.
The boon of palliative care
was never meant for me;
and it's in no way unfair
because now, on bended knee
I can behold in full a gentle Grace;
pain's opened divinity's door
and gave me glimpse of smiling Face;
how could I ask for more?
The clouds may be so grey above,
but over them, shines Holy Love.

    Mr. Huckabee: I have taken some time to try and write this to convey the best I can what it is, should be, is imperative for ALL Conservatives to NOT just think about but to get, comprehend.
    My concern is that the mindset of most conservatives is in the simplest terms, "turn the other cheek". They've also been taught "do unto others as you would have them do unto you".
    This has been seen with regards to the kids over the weekend and all that has come from it. In the USA there is now a community and most especially a school, a whole ton of families that are scared, admitted or not. These families are not scared from an enemy from outside of the country as one might expect, but are in fact, feeling threatened by people within their OWN country.
    My question to you and ALL Conservatives, as well as people who REALLY, TRULY CARE, What is it going to take for this to end? Will it take the innocent permanent harm to the extreme point of death?
    Now, we have already seen way too many people die in the USA, that are just innocent people. We have seen especially conservatives not just being harassed, bullied, sanctioned and stalked, even killed.
    When are conservatives going to finally begin to understand that in fact that is a fight happening, almost a war, in the USA and it is not from just the outside threats but in fact it is a FIGHT for the USA's FOUNDING IDEALS! The people within the country of the USA are trying to not just change but actually DESTROY ALL that is America!
    When will those that are in positions of any type of authority stand up and better yet actually fight back. Conservatives MUST start to not just cry, complain or stand on the sidelines anymore, but in fact actually start using the laws of the land by prosecuting those who are truly breaking the law.
    Being nice did NOT win the CIVIL War, it was the fact that people actually got involved and fought back!
