As if there weren’t enough issues to mobilize voters on both sides in the upcoming election, Thursday’s news brought two more.
For Republicans, a vast caravan of Central Americans, up to 4,000 strong, is heading northward with the intention of crossing the US border illegally. President Trump is threatening to send the military and close the border if Mexico doesn’t stop the caravan. Trump says this is the result of Democrats stonewalling (ironically) all his efforts to impose control on America’s borders, and their intention to impose open borders, abolish ICE and repeal immigration laws if they are elected.
On the other side, Indiana petitioned the Supreme Court to hear an appeal of a ruling that struck down the state’s limits on abortion as unconstitutional. The law, signed by then-Gov. Mike Pence in 2012, banned selective abortions based on sex, race or ability of the unborn child. Democrats who were willing to do anything – and when they said “anything,” they meant ANYTHING – to stop Brett Kavanaugh from being confirmed out of fear that he would support the weakening of Roe v. Wade and abortion supporters will certainly be trumpeting this story to scare their voters to the polls.
So the choice is clear: if you want the borders to be secure and existing immigration laws passed by bipartisan Congressional votes to be enforced, vote Republican. If you want to allow the unfettered killing of children in the womb because of their race, gender or disability, vote Democrat.
Wow, when you put it that way, the choice really IS clear!
