President Franklin Roosevelt's D-Day Prayer

My fellow Americans: Last night, when I spoke with you about the fall of Rome, I knew at that moment that troops of the United States and our allies were crossing the Channel in another and greater operation. It has come to pass with success thus far.

And so, in this poignant hour, I ask you to join with me in prayer:

Almighty God: Our sons, pride of our Nation, this day have set upon a mighty endeavor, a struggle to preserve our Republic, our religion, and our civilization, and to set free a suffering humanity.

Lead them straight and true; give strength to their arms, stoutness to their hearts, steadfastness in their faith.

They will need Thy blessings. Their road will be long and hard. For the enemy is strong. He may hurl back our forces. Success may not come with rushing speed, but we shall return again and again; and we know that by Thy grace, and by the righteousness of our cause, our sons will triumph.

They will be sore tried, by night and by day, without rest-until the victory is won. The darkness will be rent by noise and flame. Men's souls will be shaken with the violences of war.

For these men are lately drawn from the ways of peace. They fight not for the lust of conquest. They fight to end conquest. They fight to liberate. They fight to let justice arise, and tolerance and good will among all Thy people. They yearn but for the end of battle, for their return to the haven of home.

Some will never return. Embrace these, Father, and receive them, Thy heroic servants, into Thy kingdom.

And for us at home -- fathers, mothers, children, wives, sisters, and brothers of brave men overseas -- whose thoughts and prayers are ever with them--help us, Almighty God, to rededicate ourselves in renewed faith in Thee in this hour of great sacrifice.

Many people have urged that I call the Nation into a single day of special prayer. But because the road is long and the desire is great, I ask that our people devote themselves in a continuance of prayer. As we rise to each new day, and again when each day is spent, let words of prayer be on our lips, invoking Thy help to our efforts.

Give us strength, too -- strength in our daily tasks, to redouble the contributions we make in the physical and the material support of our armed forces.

And let our hearts be stout, to wait out the long travail, to bear sorrows that may come, to impart our courage unto our sons wheresoever they may be.

And, O Lord, give us Faith. Give us Faith in Thee; Faith in our sons; Faith in each other; Faith in our united crusade. Let not the keenness of our spirit ever be dulled. Let not the impacts of temporary events, of temporal matters of but fleeting moment let not these deter us in our unconquerable purpose.

With Thy blessing, we shall prevail over the unholy forces of our enemy. Help us to conquer the apostles of greed and racial arrogancies. Lead us to the saving of our country, and with our sister Nations into a world unity that will spell a sure peace a peace invulnerable to the schemings of unworthy men. And a peace that will let all of men live in freedom, reaping the just rewards of their honest toil.

Thy will be done, Almighty God.

Amen.


There is nothing funny about this

There are certain “tropes” in comedy that you see again and again, and one of them is the psychiatrist who is crazy himself. David Steinberg used to do a hilarious sketch based on this character. Now, someone else is putting a new spin on the “crazy psychiatrist” routine. Maybe I’m old fashioned, but I think the racism and threats of violence kind of ruin the humor.

Wait, you mean that was an actual psychiatrist speaking at the Yale School of Medicine who was being serious when she said she fantasies about "unloading a revolver into the head of any white person that got in my way"?

This was reported by Bari Weiss, a journalist who was hounded from the New York Times to appease the unreasonable crying of woke young staffers. Sadly, it’s only the tip of the iceberg of how racist “anti-racist” propaganda is infecting medicine, as she documents at this link:

Imagine having doctors who refuse to treat patients because they’re white so they “deserve” to die or be sick, or who won’t ask black patients personal questions to figure out what’s wrong with them because it might be considered racist. Meanwhile, medical “studies” supposedly proving racism in treatment can be so flawed as to be useless, but nobody dares to point it out. Medicine is supposed to be about the pursuit of the truth to help all patients, but some of today’s young medical students prioritize racial politics over truth or helping patients, while older doctors and teachers are afraid to challenge them for fear of being “canceled.” And don’t expect the AMA to help: they’ve already gone full “woke” and thrown traditional medical standards out the window, as have many once-respected medical journalists.

I’d say, “Physician, heal thyself,” but if these physicians are white, they probably hate themselves so much they’d let themselves die from malpractice.

Riots broke out Thursday night in Minneapolis after federal law enforcement officers shot a suspect. They were serving a warrant for felony handgun possession when the suspect refused to comply and reportedly pulled a gun on them, but hey, I’m sure they could have reasoned with him.

Assault Weapons Ban Is Unconstitutional

A federal judge has ruled California’s assault weapons ban unconstitutional.

The judge made a point I’ve often made over the years: the people banning “assault weapons” can’t even define what that term means. He noted that all guns are dangerous weapons, but these particular guns, “like all guns, can be used for ill or for good. They could just as well be called ‘home defense rifles’ or ‘anti-crime guns.’”

    Hard to imagine that Joe Biden thinks he is the second FDR after you read the prayer FDR offered for D-Day. Where is Joe's belief in God when he thinks abortion is the answer? Have we ever heard Joe mention God or ANYTHING spiritual? Joan Kugler

    Mr. Mike. I am 97 and I wonder if you ever had a thaught like mine? If you are black and wish you were white there seems nothing can help them. However, look at the beach and look at all the whites trying to get black--they have help.

    Your choice to publish President Roosevelt's D-Day prayer is deeply appreciated. I was well into childhood when he prayed that prayer. Sadly I did not remember it.

    Boy, I always love your comments but today’s June 6, was especially moving. Today’s younger generation have no idea what the world has went through for them to be free and have all their freebies and tech devices they enjoy today. Makes me wonder...would they fight for America if a war broke out? I really don’t think they would. Seeing all the young innocent faces that went through D-Day, and some gave their lives for us brings tears to my eyes. Keep up your thoughts.

    Just watched your Sunday morning show. I really HATE when you use the term "congressional" Medal of Honor. That Medal is awarded to Heroes and is only "approved" by "congress". 99% of the "politicians" in the "congress" have NO idea what a Soldier, Marine, Sailor or Airman has to do to be awarded that Medal. AND 99% of the "politicians" in the swamp would not be able to do ANYTHING near what it takes be awarded that medal. I am a Vietnam Combat Vet and I would not want to go into combat with 99% of the "politicians" because I know I could not count on them to "watch my back". PLEASE drop "congressional" from the description and call it what it is - The Medal of Honor!!!
