"Huckabee" Preview

By Mike Huckabee

I hope you’re already having a fun, safe and patriotic Fourth of July weekend! But don’t forget to carve out a little time to join us for a great new episode of “Huckabee” tonight on TBN!

We’ll have fireworks for you when I welcome former NYC Mayor and Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani to tell us what he thinks about politicized prosecutions and other incendiary topics. The Orlando Magic’s Pat Williams will talk about his new book that’s perfectly timed for July 4th. I’ll also visit with conservative talk host Michael Knowles of the Daily Wire, and take a visit to “Our Kind of Town.” Comedian Byron Trimble will bring the laughs, and we’ll cap it off with an inspiring salute to America by the fantastic R&B singer and “America’s Got Talent” winner, Michael Grimm.

We light the fuse tonight at 8 and 11 EST, 7 and 10 CST, and Sunday at 9 EST/8 CST, on TBN. To find out how you can watch TBN, from local cable and broadcast channels to streaming, visit https://www.huckabee.tv and click on “Channel Finder” on the top menu. You can stream previous episodes, highlights and online-only “Digital Exclusives,” including extended interviews, “In Case You Missed It” and “Facts of the Matter” segments, and extra performances by our great musical and comedy guests, all at https://www.huckabee.tv. You can also find past shows, highlights and digital exclusives on YouTube and my Facebook page.

About That Penalty Imposed Against Sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson

By Mike Huckabee

Marijuana has become so ubiquitous in US culture that many people responded with shock and anger at the news that top US Olympic runner Sha’Carri Richardson had been suspended for a month due to a positive drug test for pot. She’ll be unable to run in the 100-meter race in Tokyo, but should be reinstated in time for later events.

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/aoc-says-olympic-ban-on-marijuana-is-instrument-of-racism-following-richardsons-suspension

Richardson claimed she smoked pot to hide her pain over her mother’s recent death, and defenders argued that it’s not a performance-enhancing drug. Probably the dumbest defense came (natch) from Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, who claimed racism. She declared, "The criminalization and banning of cannabis is an instrument of racist and colonial policy."

Actually, it’s an Olympic Committee rule that everyone has to follow. Swimmer Michael Phelps was suspended for three months and lost his Kellogg’s sponsorship just because a photo appeared of him holding what appeared to be a bong. And he’s nearly as white as the milk you pour on Wheaties.

You can argue that the penalty for pot use is outdated and the rules should be changed, but please don’t try to claim the rule is racially motivated. It applies to everyone, and while I’m certainly sympathetic to Ms. Richardson over her painful personal loss, she was aware of the penalty for failing a drug test.

Now, if AOC or other liberals really want to protest unfair Olympic decisions related to the use of actual performance-enhancing substances, try this: join all us sane people in protesting the IOC allowing a weightlifter who enjoyed the benefits of years of testosterone building up his physique before taking estrogen injections to compete against non-drug-enhanced female weightlifters.

Profiles In Integrity

By Mike Huckabee

Manhattan D.A. Cy Vance just humiliated an elderly Trump Organization executive by perp-walking him in handcuffs in front of cameras for offenses like not paying taxes on his free parking perk.

https://www.westernjournal.com/witch-hunt-manhattan-da-prosecuting-trump-org-previously-refused-go-weinstein-epstein/

As this article reminds us, it was also Vance who declined to prosecute now-imprisoned sex criminal/powerful Democrat fundraiser Harvey Weinstein despite having evidence on video (he later accepted a donation from Weinstein’s lawyer.) It took the “Me, Too” movement to finally hold Weinstein to account. Vance’s office also unsuccessfully lobbied the state Supreme Court to reduce the sex offender registration level of notorious wealthy pedophile/Democrat power broker Jeffrey Epstein to the lowest level.

In explaining why he’s trying so hard to go after the Trump Organization, a prosecutor insisted it’s “not about politics,” claiming, “There’s no clearer example of a company that should be held to account.”

I don’t know, I could think of some clearer examples of people who should be held to account. The names Epstein and Weinstein come to mind. Come to think of it, so does the name “Cyrus Vance.”

Update On Hurricane Elsa

By Mike Huckabee

It appears to be weakening, but if you’re in its potential path, take precautions anyway. Better safe than blown away!

Not The Time For A Joke

By Mike Huckabee

It’s not very nice of President Biden, on the Fourth of July weekend, to pull a practical joke on newly-sworn-in US citizens by making them think that after studying for years to speak English, they somehow got it all wrong.

No End In Sight

By Mike Huckabee

Even though the Supreme Court rejected a case challenging the protections against libeling public figures, Justice Gorsuch joined Justice Thomas in arguing that it’s time for the Court to reexamine those standards, such as having to prove “actual malice.”

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/thomas-gorsuch-court-revisit-libel-standard-public-figures

They argue that the current laws arose in an era when there were relatively few media outlets, and those checked facts and maintained professional standards. It was also clearer who was a public figure. Today, there are countless websites, social media pages and cable channels looking for views with little regard for accuracy (this one an exception!), and their lies can harm people regardless of whether they were told with provable malice. And today, any private citizen can become a “public figure” overnight due to media and social media saturation, but should that cost them their protection from being libeled?

It’s a provocative argument, and as a public figure who’s routinely libeled, certainly of interest to me. But even if it might help me, I’d want to make sure that any reforms still protect First Amendment rights.

And speaking of the Supreme Court once again shirking its responsibility to protect First Amendment rights, the Court refused to hear the case of a Christian florist who’s endured years of legal assaults and is now facing ruinous financial punishment for discrimination for declining to take a gay wedding job that any other florist in town could have handled.

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/supreme-court-declines-flower-shop-owner-serve-gay-wedding

I’m old enough to remember when the proponents of same-sex marriage insisted that it was ridiculous for Christians to oppose same-sex marriage because if they didn’t want to participate in gay weddings, then they would never even have to be involved. The ink was hardly dry on the decision in which the SCOTUS someone “found” a right to same sex marriage in the Constitution before the vindictive lawsuits started being filed to force Christian businesspeople to violate their beliefs or else.

I also remember that the ruling included some hot air about respecting other people’s freedom of conscience. But even with a so-called “conservative majority,” when called upon to clarify their ruling and defend religious freedom (an actual enumerated right, not one yanked out of thin air), the SCOTUS once again turned tail and ran. They refuse to deal with the damage from the bomb they lobbed into society.

Supposedly, they are waiting for a better case, or more cases before making a clarifying ruling, but how many Christian victims of lawfare have to suffer until then? Christian business owners have now gone through years of persecution because of the Court’s political activism and cowardice, and there’s still no end in sight.

Drugs and alcohol are bringing this country down faster than the Socialist/Communists who are pushing them. I live in Golden, Colorado, where at one time in my 74-year old memory, we had one brewery, Coors. Now we have at least a dozen, plus taverns, bars and saloons. Even the old mortuary is becoming a place to eat and drink. The credit union is called "On Tap Credit Union". No kidding. A woman next door overdosed on meth and alcohol. If people would look at the 1800's history of China, they would see that the British flooded China with opium, grown in India to keep silks, teas and other things the British loved, coming to the United Kingdom. This opium ruined the Chinese, then came the Opium Wars. The Chinese, with Mexican drug cartels, are making sure the United States is supplied with drugs. In the grocery stores are stacks and stacks of ales, beers, "hard ciders" and dozens of other cute-named alcoholic drinks. It's unbelievable.

In a time that we get multiple junk emails, I look forward to this newsletter. It gives an honest Godly perspective on current events, politics, and various points of view. Thank you Governor Huckabee for providing this type of news outlet that has been nationally cancelled recently. Maybe you need to consider an evening news broadcast that we could all be proud of.
