Dallas shooting reveals flaws in gun control argument

By Mike Huckabee

Wednesday, there was a shooting inside Timberview High School in the Dallas suburb of Arlington, Texas. The 18-year-old shooter reportedly opened fire with a handgun after a fight broke out in a classroom. Three people were injured, and one is in critical condition. I hope you will join me in praying for their swift and full recovery. The alleged shooter later turned himself in to police with an attorney.

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/liberal-influencers-school-shooting-gun-control

Before the circumstances were even fully known, gun control advocates were rushing to blame the shooting on Texas’ Republican leaders and the state’s concealed carry law, claiming that if only there were “common sense gun control laws” (they say that phrase all the time but seem unable to define what it means), this would never have happened.

Here’s a reality check: under the Texas concealed carry law, it’s already illegal for anyone under 21 to carry a firearm. But all the state’s laws didn’t keep the 18-year-old from getting, carrying and using a gun.

Meanwhile, just last weekend in deep blue Chicago, which has plenty of strict, “common sense” anti-gun laws, 42 people were shot and wounded and at least four killed. And that’s not an atypical weekend for Chicago. If all the laws already on the books are being ignored, or there are so many that police (whom these same liberals keep defunding) can’t even begin to enforce them, then how would passing more laws fix the problem?

When I was a teenager in Arkansas, just about every boy in my high school had a rifle rack with a deer rifle in the back window of his pickup in the school parking lot. But do you know what our victim count from school shootings was? Zero. That’s because it never would have occurred to us to aim a gun at a classmate.

This scourge will never end until people realize that guns don’t fire themselves, and that people who would commit mass murder aren’t deterred by the fact that owning a gun would be illegal. These acts are evil and you don’t end evil by passing laws to try to make it more inconvenient. You fight evil by instilling morality, values, respect for life and a belief in God into children. How many of the people promoting more gun laws have also fought just as fervently to prevent any efforts to do that?

Dems lose their minds in last-ditch bullying of Sinema

By Mike Huckabee

The confirmation hearings for Justice Brett Kavanaugh in 2018 took Democrats to a new low for childish, irresponsible behavior, but the current harassment of their fellow Democrat Sen. Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona is showing them to be full-out wacko. I’m not sure it’s possible to be any more wacko than they are at this point, but the year isn’t over and we shall see.

Speaking of Kavanaugh, there happens to be a link between the harassment of then-Sen. Jeff Flake --- also from Arizona --- over his vote to confirm Kavanaugh, and that of Sen. Sinema now, over the insane spending bills currently on the table. As reported by Jordan Davidson at TheFederalist.com, both of these agitator groups were funded by the same organization, which in turn gets money from George Soros.

https://thefederalist.com/2021/10/06/sinema-harassed-by-same-lefty-network-that-cornered-jeff-flake-about-kavanaugh/

Recall that Sen. Flake, after he announced that he’d be supporting Kavanaugh’s nomination, was ambushed in an elevator in the U.S. Capitol by two extremely confrontational women, one of whom offered a frenzied condemnation of Kavanaugh based mostly, it seemed, on what had happened to her personally and to other victims of assault.

A week after that incident, an email from the Center for Popular Democracy took credit for it, along with “the Women’s March and other groups.”

Fast-forward to 2021, and a group called Living United for Change in Arizona (LUCHA) has taken credit for the ambush, complete with video cameras, of Sen. Sinema in a women’s restroom at Arizona State University, where she was on a break from teaching a class. It turns out that this group is a close partner of the Center for Popular Democracy. The report in TheFederalist.com gives details on the funding for both, but I’ll just say that leftist-globalist billionaire and would-be Bond villain George Soros funded LUCHA to the tune of at least $250,000 in 2017 and at least $1.5 million in 2019, and is the group’s largest donor.

I don’t know what these protesters think they’re getting for behaving this way. Do they think this relentless bullying is persuasive? Sadly, in some cases it has been, but by now the strategy has been used so much that, for many, it’s just getting tiresome. In a statement, Sinema said this was not a legitimate protest. “It is unacceptable,” she said, for activist organizations to instruct their members to jeopardize themselves by engaging in unlawful activities such as gaining entry to closed university buildings, disrupting learning environments, and filming students in a restroom.”

Here’s her full statement.

https://townhall.com/tipsheet/leahbarkoukis/2021/10/05/sinema-unloads-on-activists-who-chased-her-into-a-bathroom-n2596952

But these people on the left aren’t just bullies --- they’re highly organized bullies, and the more we find out about their network of “nonprofit” organizations, the more we see that at the center of the massive spider web is the same little group of poisonous spiders.

So, what about those who use social media to encourage agitators to bully lawmakers? As “Sister Toldja” at Redstate.com reports, so-called “feminists” are doing exactly this to other women. For example, Jezebel.com writer Ashley Reese used Twitter to distribute a piece originally headlined “Absolutely Bully Kyrsten Sinema Outside Her Bathroom Stall.” The piece mocks those who would hesitate to follow a woman into a restroom with their video cameras. It serves Sinema right, Reese says, for hiding from the voters “like a coward.” Oh, and she adds that President Biden was right to dismiss what was done to the senator as just “part of the process.”

https://redstate.com/sister-toldjah/2021/10/06/dan-crenshaw-raises-key-questions-to-twitters-jack-dorsey-after-online-threats-against-sen-sinema-n452713

Twitter’s own rules state: “We prohibit behavior that encourages others to harass or target specific individuals or groups with abusive behavior.” Texas Rep. Dan Crenshaw called out Twitter on this, asking “Hey, just wondering if you’re going to enforce this bullying rule? Or does it not count when the victim isn’t liberal enough?”

I wonder how Ms. Reece would react if some male conservatives followed her into the women’s restroom and made videos while verbally harassing her. I would imagine she’d press charges, with good reason. But it’s not likely we’ll ever find out what she'd do, because no real conservative I know would ever do a thing like that.

Matt Vespa at Townhall.com noticed the same thing about so-called “feminists” who think it’s bad to bully women but gladly make an exception for Sen. Sinema. He wrote about the Jezebel.com piece as well.

https://townhall.com/tipsheet/mattvespa/2021/10/05/womans-website-dont-bully-women-unless-its-kyrsten-sinema-n2596941

“For all the pearl-clutching,” Reece had written of the restroom incident, “few are providing a more effective and safe alternative to what these activists did.” But Vespa says it's not effective, because Sinema doesn’t care; they apparently can yell in her face all day and she’d just walk away before she'd “kowtow.” Good for her.

And what about the media double standard? When Sen. John McCain went against his party and stopped the effort to repeal Obamacare, THE NEW YORK TIMES knelt to worship him. “It was a stunning moment,” they wrote, “a flash of the maverick John McCain, unafraid of going his own way despite the pleas of his fellow Republicans.”

But for going HER own way despite the continuing harassment from her fellow Democrats, Sinema is vilified in the media. As Byron York points out in Townhall, this time, the NYT ran a story headlined “What’s Wrong With Kyrsten Sinema?” Here’s a gem that ran in THE NATION: “How Kyrsten Sinema Sold Out; the origin story of the Senate’s newest super villain.”

York cites the portrayal of Sinema on SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE, which he says “often functions as a sort of in-kind campaign contribution to the Democratic Party.” (As do most of the media, I would add.) On SNL, she’s played as “a weirdo who just wants to do bad things,” he says. If you (like us) rarely see SNL any more because it’s just not funny, York includes a description of the sketch.

https://townhall.com/columnists/byronyork/2021/10/06/kyrsten-sinema-under-attack-n2596989

Steven Kruiser at Pjmedia.com has an explanation for the Democrats’ bizarre bullying behavior: “What we are witnessing now from the Democrats is a very public and ongoing nervous breakdown brought on by too many years of lying to the American people and themselves. Public incivility towards anyone who disagrees with them is not only forgiven but encouraged, even by the President.”

I can’t outdo his description of CNN, which he says was once actually respected but is now “a human zoo packed with frothing, rabid sycophants who were so damaged by Trump’s defeat of Hillary Clinton that they’ve lost all of their humanity.” And more: “What we are witnessing with the 2021 Democrats is a collective mass delusion that presents itself as a psychotic break with reality.”

https://pjmedia.com/columns/stephen-kruiser/2021/10/06/democrats-condone-public-harassment-because-the-entire-party-is-mentally-unwell-n1521854

I don’t think that’s too harsh a diagnosis; that’s exactly what we’re seeing. And I'd add that it’s not just the media –- it happened within the government, inside the Justice Department, State Department, FBI, CIA. Trump’s election (or even just the threat of it), in their fevered minds, excused anything they wanted to do. And we’re still finding out what that encompassed.

New podcast episode

This week on The People’s Podcast, Governor Huckabee sounds off on the insanity of the Left’s $3.5 trillion spending racket, and the even crazier tactics they’re using to pressure and intimidate anyone who stands in their way. Then he talks with Byron York about Arizona’s newest maverick, Senator Kyrsten Sinema, and they ponder why she’s not getting the heroic media treatment her predecessor John McCain could always count on when he defied his party.

Pfizer exposed

By Mike Huckabee

In a new Project Veritas expose, a former Pfizer Senior Director of Worldwide Research has turned whistleblower and revealed internal emails from Pfizer executives, discussing how they need to keep it quiet that their COVID vaccine was developed using fetal cell lines “ultimately derived from an aborted fetus.”

https://www.projectveritas.com/news/pfizer-leaks-whistleblower-goes-on-record-reveals-internal-emails-from-chief/

They note that while the Vatican had approved the vaccine for pro-life people, “From the perspective of corporate affairs, we want to avoid having the information on fetal cells floating out there. The risk of communicating this right now outweighs any potential benefit we could see, particularly with general members of the public who may take this information and use it in ways we may not want out there.”

Once again, note that they wanted the facts suppressed not because they were untrue or “misinformation,” but because they might be used to support a viewpoint that would be inconvenient for their purposes. Is Pfizer a drug company or a social media platform?

Revealed: A conflict of interest for AG Garland

By Mike Huckabee

Personally, I don’t know that Attorney General Merrick Garland needs any more excuse for his outrageous abuse of power in threatening to sic the FBI on parents who criticize school boards for imposing leftist and racial indoctrination onto kids, other than that he’s an unprincipled hack who’s politicized the DOJ to push the Democratic Party’s agenda. He’s certainly proven it in plenty of ways by targeting Trump supporters and red states for everything from protecting the border to protecting unborn life.

But for those who want to be fully informed about all the conflicts of interest that are being covered up in this Administration, here’s something you’ll want to read:

https://legalinsurrection.com/2021/10/ag-garlands-daughter-is-married-to-co-founder-of-company-that-sells-critical-race-theory-materials/

It details how Garland’s daughter is married to the co-founder of a company called Panorama Education that has multi-million-dollar contracts with school boards to provide them with “equity” and “social-emotional” programs. Bonus: the company got a $16 million grant for its “social-emotional” research on children that was partly funded by Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s charitable initiative. Lots more details at the link.

More on Sinema and Arizona

By Mike Huckabee

Jon Gabriel at National Review has an interesting article about Arizona’s history of contrarianism and why the attempts to harass and bully Sen. Kyrsten Sinema into knuckling under to leftist authoritarians are likely only going to make her angrier and less cooperative. Also more likely to make her even more popular with Arizona voters.

    Dear Gov
“Gun control” has not gyro do with stopping gun violence. It has only to do with “control. The advocates love gun violence as it makes their argument seem more credible. It’s about taking guns away from law abiding citizens who are the only ones who actually comply though that may someday change. Citizens without guns therefore are more compliant and easier to control.
