THE LATEST NEWS

1.  KYLE RITTENHOUSE TRIAL UPDATE:

As of Thursday morning, the jury has yet to reach a verdict. It's odd, since between the botched, dishonest prosecution and the lack of incriminating evidence, it seems as if a “self-defense” verdict should take about five minutes. Speculation is rampant over whether some jurors have been too frightened by threats from the leftist mob to acquit, or whether the delay is due to the latest controversy, the accusation that they never saw the best quality video evidence because the prosecution illegally withheld it from the defense.

https://www.westernjournal.com/rittenhouse-trial-judge-jury-asks-see-videos-nightmare-come-true/

There are also a couple of tech-related twists: the prosecution admitted using edited and/or enhanced video footage as evidence, and the defense says the video software owner’s manual clearly forbids that. Also, after the prosecutors repeatedly denied that they knew anything about compressing video files, Internet sleuths found a photo of a prosecutor’s laptop, showing that Handbrake was installed on it last January. That’s a software program that can compress video files.

Some BLM protesters in Kenosha were arrested after clashing with Rittenhouse supporters.

https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2021/11/17/arrests-kenosha-blm-protesters-clash-kyle-rittenhouse-supporters/

While we wait, here’s a discussion topic: Just how stupid does a leftist protester have to be to assault people who came out to support the right to shoot leftist protesters who assault people?

2.  ELECTION DAY COMES TO SOUTH CAROLINA:

Most Americans didn’t notice an election that was held Tuesday in South Carolina, but I guarantee you Democrats in Washington noticed, and they likely had to call the White House to borrow some Depends.

https://www.westernjournal.com/republican-wins-columbia-sc-mayors-race-the-county-voted-68-biden-in-2020/

Voters in the state capital of Columbia elected Daniel Rickenmann mayor with 52% of the vote. Doesn’t sound so impressive, right? It’s even an officially non-partisan race. But everyone knew that Rickenmann was a Republican and his opponent was a Democrat. The Republican won in a city where Joe Biden got nearly 69% of the vote just one year ago, and where Democrats have a 17-point registration advantage. He ran on a platform of more affordable housing, cutting regulations on businesses, and increasing public safety, especially by recruiting and retaining police officers. None of those things are hallmarks of cities run by Democrats.

The official excuse from the Democrats is that voters must’ve just assumed the Democrat would win, so they didn’t bother to turn out. Yep, once again, it’s not that people hate their policies, they just didn’t get the message out effectively. It’s never the reality that’s the problem, it’s always that voters had incorrect perceptions.

Good, you stick with that attitude that your failures are the voters' fault. Keep telling yourself that right through the 2022 elections.

3. REPUBLICANS TO QUESTION CONTROVERSIAL BIDEN NOMINEE:

Today, Senate Republicans get a chance to question Saule Omarova, Biden’s nominee for Comptroller of the Currency. Her background includes expressing admiration for Soviet Marxism, and a desire to destroy the oil, gas and coal industries and replace private, free market banking with the government handling everyone’s money and directing spending. So all in all, the perfect person to entrust with overseeing America’s currency. I wonder if Biden, who “nominated” her, actually has any idea of who she is?

You can watch the hearings live at this link:

https://www.foxnews.com/live-news/saule-omarova

The best you can say for this nomination is that as horrible as it is, it might be a toss-up as to whether it’s the worst Biden nomination currently pending. Take a look at who he wants to make an FCC commissioner.

4. THANK GOODNESS FOR FEDERAL COURTS:

It’s hard to believe a Republican is saying this, but thank goodness for federal courts. Monday, a federal judge issued a nationwide injunction blocking President Biden’s executive order to halt oil and gas operations on all federal lands to fight “climate change.” This is apparently based on the leftist delusion that if you just prevent people from having access to oil and gas, they'll simply switch over to windmills and solar panels, no problemo.

https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2021/11/17/louisiana-ag-leads-13-state-lawsuit-targeting-bidens-attack-u-s-energy-independence/

It was a victory for Louisiana and 12 other states that joined the lawsuit. Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry said, “The President’s Executive Order abandons middle-class jobs, cripples our economy, and hits everyday Americans where it hurts the most – their pocketbooks.” It’s even bad for the environment, since the revenues from fuel production help pay for coastal restoration and hurricane protection.

In a related story, Triple A reports that the average price of a gallon of regular as of today is $3.41, which is actually down slightly. In the bluest of states, California, it’s nearly $4.70 on average, and in some places is over $6 a gallon.

https://news.yahoo.com/california-gas-prices-soar-record-130054189.html

And what’s causing those skyrocketing gas prices? Certainly not liberal policies that wage war on our fuel industry and severely reduce domestic oil and gas supplies. No, obviously, it’s price-gouging by the oil companies! Just ask an expert on the energy industry: Sen. Elizabeth Warren.

https://www.breitbart.com/clips/2021/11/17/warren-on-increased-gas-prices-this-isnt-about-inflation-its-price-gouging/

Why, she knows at least as much about the subject as AOC, who thinks that the Keystone XL Pipeline (also killed by Biden via executive order) was meant to carry natural gas.

The country’s in the very best of hands!

5. COLLEGE DEMOCRATS UPDATE:

The College Democrats, having gone even further down the road of wack-a-doodle, anti-American, socialist wokeism than the national Party, are now devolving into warring camps, digging up adolescent Tweets to condemn one another, pointing fingers at each other, and screaming, “Racist!” “Islamophobe!” “Etc-phobe!”

How bad is it? They’ve become so angry, accusatory, irrational and divisive that even the DNC is thinking of severing ties with the organization! That’s like smelling so bad that skunks won’t associate with you.

https://www.politico.com/news/2021/11/17/college-democrats-of-america-dnc-522864

It’s one of the eternal truisms of life that fanatics eventually turn on each other and start eating their own. So this is really no surprise to anyone who knows history or has read the great works of literature. Too bad they don’t teach any of that in college anymore, mostly thanks to groups like the College Democrats.

6.  NEW HOROWITZ IG REPORT CITES POLITICIZED DOJ

Inspector General Michael Horowitz is mostly associated with the internal investigation he conducted of “Crossfire Hurricane.” That report, when combined with what special counsel John Durham is gradually revealing through his indictments, presents a disturbing picture of our politicized “justice” system.

But now, this agency watchdog has gone further to issue a new report that tells us it’s not our imagination that “Justice” seems incapable of impartiality. Although the IG doesn’t work through a grand jury and can’t issue criminal indictments as a special counsel can --- he’s really an “internal affairs” investigator --- he comes down hard on the DOJ.

THE EPOCH TIMES has a “premium” (subscribers-only) report. We’ll summarize this for you and add our own comments below.

https://www.theepochtimes.com/mkt_breakingnews/doj-inspector-general-says-justice-department-must-address-concerns-about-politicization

It’s called the Office of the Inspector General’s “Top Management and Performance Challenges Facing the Department of Justice,” and it comes out every year. For 2021, of the nine most pressing challenges it identifies in its cover memo, the first one on the list is “Strengthening Public Trust in the U.S. Department of Justice.” Horowitz says that “demonstrating independence from political influence” is a key consideration.

Here’s a link to the entire report.

https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/21112662-doj-oig-report

The very first heading under “Strengthening Public Trust” is "Maintaining Independence from Political Influence by Adhering to and Strengthening Policies Designed to Ensure Objectivity and Impartiality.” Horowitz has nailed the big problem with Attorney General Merriick Garland’s DOJ. We’ve arguably never seen a “Justice” Department THIS overtly politicized, not even under Eric Holder during Obama’s tenure. (Not that it wasn’t politicized then –- it certainly was –- but now, under Garland, the partisanship is almost ridiculously obvious.)

There are policies and procedures put in place to protect the DOJ from accusations that it’s politicized or applying the law without impartiality, and, according to Horowitz, the DOJ has failed to follow them. He says this is true in a number of cases, including the investigation of Donald Trump’s campaign in 2016 (“Crossfire Hurricane”) and also in leaks to the media concerning those cases. “Numerous national events in the past year have crystallized the urgency for the department to address this challenge in a meaningful way.” No kidding.

Their handling of these cases “negatively impacted the perception of the department as a fair administrator of justice,” he says.

This phenomenon works both ways, Horowitz notes, depending on who is in office. Democrats criticized the DOJ during the Trump era, he seems compelled to mention, citing the example of the attempt to lower the jail sentence of Trump ally Roger Stone. To that we would say that it was the pursuit of Stone in the first place –- especially that heavy-handed and totally unnecessary early-morning raid on his house, complete with S.W.A.T. team –- that was most obviously politically motivated, and it was carried out by Democrats. Laura Ingraham said at the time that they treated him “like El Chapo.” Recall that Stone was sentenced to three years in prison; President Trump pardoned him.

By the way, since Horowitz mentions leaks to the media, remember how CNN happened to be there with cameras to record the raid, and maintained afterwards that it was because they had “good instincts” and somehow just figured it out?

https://www.cnn.com/2019/01/25/politics/roger-stone-raid/index.html

That was Mueller’s special counsel investigation, which might not have been as leaky a boat as the FBI, but, sorry, we’re still not buying that CNN just happened to get it right. And the leaking continues: consider how details of the recent and similarly outrageous FBI raids on Project Veritas employees and founder James O’Keefe were immediately known by NEW YORK TIMES reporters, when this would have required a leak from the grand jury. Here’s a must-read article.

https://spectator.org/behind-the-new-york-times-unholy-war-on-project-veritas/

If IG Horowitz was wondering why the “Justice” Department has such a bad reputation, all he needed to do was read that.

Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley, the ranking Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee, emailed THE EPOCH TIMES that the DOJ “has had a cloud hanging over its credibility for years. “From the [Hillary] Clinton email investigation to the Russia probe and targeting parents exercising their First Amendment rights at school board meetings, there’s not been much to boost the public’s confidence that DOJ is apolitical. The inspector general’s assessment seems right on the money to me.”

Grassley also hopes the inspector general can be given two things he has asked for to be able to hold bad apples accountable:

1. testimonial subpoena power

2. power to independently investigate attorney misconduct

This week has been a particularly bad one for the Biden “Justice” Department, as internal documents released by a whistleblower showed that they’re targeting parents using counterterrorism tools. Parents Defending Education, an outstanding network of groups across the country who have been monitoring local school districts and what they’re teaching, issued a statement about this saying the documents “prove that the FBI was, in fact, using counterterrorism tools to investigate concerned parents who have attended school board meetings –- which directly contradicts Attorney General Merrick Garland’s sworn congressional testimony.”

So, while Steve Bannon is charged with two counts of criminal contempt of Congress for disregarding a subpoena that trashes the concept of executive privilege, Garland blatantly misleads Congress about the DOJ targeting parents and apparently skates. As head of the “Justice” Department, he himself illustrates the way the DOJ applies “justice” inconsistently by personally benefiting. That’s us talking, not Horowitz, but how could he not know this and feel the shame?

According to Horowitz’s report, “In March 2020, Pew surveyed 1,013 adults and asked them if their overall opinion of 10 federal agencies was favorable, mostly favorable, mostly unfavorable or very unfavorable. Of the 10 agencies included in the survey, DOJ ranked ninth, with only U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement polling less favorably.”

Well, it figures that under Biden, those two agencies would be just about tied for last.

Here’s an idea: if the “Justice” Department wants to be perceived as objective and nonpartisan, why doesn’t it try being objective and nonpartisan? It is disgustingly politicized, more obviously so than at any other time in memory. The “swamp” is alive and well and seemingly eternal. The only way to change that is for a new administration to clean house, starting on the upper floors and working down. We haven’t read the whole report, but it’s doubtful that Horowitz goes that far in his recommendations.

HYMNAL: BE STILL, MY SOUL

Listen: https://youtu.be/uAT6PWayxCI

Today's hymn was recommended by Joanie S.

1 Be still, my soul! for God is on your side;

bear patiently the cross of grief or pain:

leave to your God to order and provide,

who through all changes faithful will remain.

Be still, my soul! your best, your heav’nly Friend

through thorny ways leads to a joyful end.

2 Be still, my soul! for God will undertake

to guide the future surely as the past.

Your hope, your confidence, let nothing shake;

all now mysterious shall be clear at last.

Be still, my soul! the waves and winds still know

the voice that calmed their fury long ago.

3 Be still, my soul! the hour is hastening on

when we shall be forever in God's peace;

when disappointment, grief, and fear are gone,

love’s joys restored, our strivings all shall cease.

Be still my soul! when change and tears are past,

all safe and blessed we shall meet at last.

Regarding the Rittenhouse trial, I think it is six of one and half a dozen of the other as to why the jury hasn't made a decision yet, even though Kyle was chased down, kicked, hit with a skateboard and had a gun aimed at him. I think that is clear grounds for self defense! I think some jurors are afraid of what happens when verdicts don't go the way the Left wants. Bricks fly and fires blaze, and innocent people and property gets hurt. And then there is issue with the prosecution withholding evidence. How can Rittenhouse even get a fair trial with all these shenanigans going on? IMHO think a mistrial is in order.
