Leaked documents show Biden administration is contributing to border mess

Fox News has obtained leaked Border Patrol documents showing that the Biden Administration has released at least 160,000 illegal immigrants into the US, most with little or no supervision, and broadly (and possibly illegally) expanded the limited parole system to make over 30,000 of them eligible for work permits (question to low-skilled minority Americans who were enjoying their first raises in years under Trump: how is that vote for Biden working out for you?)
This is hardly news to anyone who doesn’t get their news from the Biden-whitewashing media. Frankly, I’m surprised it isn’t more (and it soon will be, with massive caravans already on the way to our former Southern “border.”) The real news is Biden's abuse of limited paroles, which by law are to be granted “on a case by case basis and only for significant humanitarian reasons or significant public benefit” with recipients being closely monitored. Former Border Patrol Chief Rodney Scott said he never approved more than five or ten in a year. Biden is treating them like house brand Halloween candy and handing them out by the tens of thousands to anyone who shows up at our doorstep.
As you can see at the link, DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has a whole bag full of “root causes” for the surge, none of which have anything to do with Biden reversing all of Trump’s successful border security measures and incentivizing illegal immigration. If you want to find the “root cause” of this disaster, stop looking in Central America and search 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

Congratulations to William Shatner, who at 90 has (appropriately) just become the oldest person ever to fly into space. The "Star Trek" icon landed safely this morning after a sub-orbital flight aboard the New Shepherd. Here are his emotional comments to Blue Origin founder Jeff Bezos.
Amusing note: no sooner had he landed than Wikipedia added “space tourist” to his list of occupations.

Shocking story out of Virginia

One of the most shocking stories of the week (and one that’s getting virtually no coverage in the liberal media) is again from the Loudon County (Virginia) School Board. This is where angry parents protested their kids being exposed to LGBTQ porn and “Critical Race Theory.” The arrest of one angry father, Scott Smith, was used as a pretext for Attorney General Merrick Garland trying to brand upset parents as “domestic terrorists” and threatening them with the FBI. But the Daily Wire wrote the story nobody else dared cover: they found out why Smith was justifiably so furious. That story is behind a paywall, but Andrea Widberg at American Thinker summarized it. Brace yourselves.
Smith said that on May 28th, a boy wearing a skirt took advantage of the “transgender” bathroom policy to enter the girls’ bathroom, where he proceeded to brutally assault and rape Smith’s ninth-grade daughter. The school called Smith, but when he arrived, told him they would handle it “in-house.” When he got angry, they finally called the sheriff…not to arrest the alleged rapist but because Smith was “making a scene.” The sheriff’s deputies took his daughter to a hospital where a rape kit confirmed she’d been sexually assaulted.
At the now-notorious school board meeting, officials claimed there was no record of any assault by a male in the girls’ bathroom and that was just misplaced concerns about their proposed transgender policy. Then a leftist activist accused Smith’s daughter of lying. Smith understandably responded angrily, and he was handcuffed and dragged across the floor, becoming the left’s poster boy for a transphobic, white male “domestic terrorist.” Also, during the arrest, Smith cried out, “I can’t breathe.” Nobody cared.
There’s a lot more at the link above, but I warn you, you might want to take your blood pressure medicine before you read it. It’s the most outrageous miscarriage of justice I’ve seen in a long time, and further proof that to the left, when it comes to pushing the radical trans agenda, women and girls and their rights are collateral damage they brush off without a thought.
Incidentally, that was only one alleged sexual assault that the school is accused of trying to cover up (the second was in a classroom). The two incidents are said to be connected, but Fox News couldn’t verify whether they involved the same assailant. This has many furious parents refusing to be silenced and demanding the superintendent’s resignation.
For those who want to do a deeper dive into the details of the Supreme Court ruling that supposedly requires schools to let males who “identify” as female invade girls’ private spaces, Instapundit has a good essay by University of San Diego law professor Gail Heriot explaining why it actually doesn’t say that.

The Democrat agenda

When Speaker Pelosi was chewing out reporters for not doing a good enough job of selling the Democrats’ $3.5 trillion spending orgy, she repeated a mantra that we often hear from other “progressives,” and not just about this bill but their entire tax and spend agenda: most people agree with the left's ideas but their “messaging” is just never effective enough. If only they could get it through those dumb voters’ heads how wonderful life would be with Uncle Sam as their sugar daddy, they’d all be clamoring for 100% Democrat rule!
To bolster this, they point to a new CBS/YouGov poll (not exactly an unbiased source, but there are others with similar findings, even from Fox News) that claims that 54% of Americans favor the $3.5 trillion “everything leftists want is ‘infrastructure’” bill. I'm not really surprised: most people love free stuff purchased with someone else’s money. However, only 10% claim to know “a lot of specifics” of what’s in the bill. 33% claim to know “some specifics,” 28% claim to have a “general idea” but know no specifics, and 29% know nothing at all about what’s in it. But 54% approve of it? And only 41% think it would help the economy, proving that even if they know nothing about it, at least they have good instincts.
What I find amazing is the Democrats’ assertion that their agenda would be even more popular if people only knew more about it. There’s a reason why they tell outrageous lies to cover up the truth about their agenda (“It will really cost zero dollars!” “Rich people and evil corporations will pay for it!” “It’s a tax cut, really!”) It all sounds like pie in the sky, but when Americans find out what the left really wants to do, most still have enough sense to reject it like a plate of tofurkey at Thanksgiving. Heck, I’m a fiscal conservative, but even I would like free apple pie for everyone, if it rained from the sky. However, as a thinking adult, I know it doesn’t.
Noah Rothman at Commentary.org has some good comments on the failure of the Democrats’ ever-changing “messaging,” from trying to redefine the word “infrastructure” to switching from boasting about how much they planned to spend to claiming it would cost nothing.

Their real problem is twofold: (1.) Many Americans have heard all these promises from the left for their entire lives, and they know that socialism never works and that “benevolent” government handouts inevitably lead to higher taxes, bigger debts, a sluggish economy, lower standards of living, less freedom and greater dependence on government. (2.) Except for ignorant young people who haven’t left the campuses to experience the real world yet, most people aren’t that easily bamboozled.
If you want some “messaging” to explain to people how this bill really works (and why polls say it’s popular, but most people would still hate it if it passed), try this:
Imagine you’re in a restaurant and the manager announces that everyone’s meal will be free. Your check will be given to the person at the next table. So everyone cheers and orders the most expensive things on the menu. But then they become enraged when they discover that while their food was “free,” they’re now expected to pay for all the food the people at the next table ate.
That’s exactly how the Democrats’ agenda works: they promise you everything free, from child care to college to medical care. Then you discover that yours may be “free,” but you get to pay for everyone else’s. It’s just a very expensive shell game. Any carney can tell you the shell game is a sucker’s game where everybody loses except the crook running it.

Possible good news from the Supreme Court on reviving a Kentucky ban on a particularly gruesome abortion procedure that was struck down by lower courts, and that the new Democrat Governor declined to appeal.
