1. Fun Link

To wash away the bad taste of how many fellow Americans are gung-ho for dictatorship as long as they’re the ones doing the dictating, check out Kevin Downey’s (I think) tongue-in-cheek quiz at PJMedia.com titled “Are You A Commie Pinko?”

2. I hope this isn’t true, but…

I hate to be cynical, but I’m afraid some Democrats will welcome a Ukraine crisis as a way to rally Americans around our flailing President and to distract from their barrage of policy failures heading into the election. As Instapundit noted, it took the media only a few hours after Russia was deemed to be officially invading before media reports appeared blaming inflation, higher gas prices and the supply chain problems on “the Ukraine crisis.”

It’s truly amazing how all the problems we’ve been dealing with since the day Joe Biden took office over a year ago can be blamed on something that Vladimir Putin did yesterday.

3. Democrats are spending time on this?!?

Remember just last week, when a huge majority of voters even in ultra-liberal San Francisco kicked three school board members out of office for wasting time on nonsense like renaming schools to make them more PC instead of dealing with genuine crisis issues? Well, this might remind you of that:

https://www.westernjournal.com/ap-proposal-nix-derogatory-term-targets-hundreds-us-sites/

With all the problems circling the White House like a swarm of sharks around a capsized tuna boat, the Biden Administration released a list of hundreds of geographic features in America that they want to rename because their long-existing names include the “derogatory” term, “squaw.”

As much as I’d hate for anyone to feel triggered by visiting Squaw Lake, I have a hunch that voters might think this Administration has some issues that are a bit more pressing to deal with.

4. Ukraine fallout

I don’t want to give you another thing to worry about, and I generally don’t like reporting on stories that haven’t happened yet, since we’ve got enough to deal with that has already happened. But if you’re concerned about your retirement account, or just your stock portfolio in general, you know that the past couple of months have been brutal. And if the Russia-Ukraine crisis gets out of hand, there could be an even bumpier ride ahead for your stocks.

5. Wipeout

The final ratings numbers are in for the Genocide Games…sorry, the Winter Olympics from Beijing. I think the term that ski jumpers would use for them would be “wipeout.”

https://www.westernjournal.com/final-viewer-numbers-beijing-olympics-bloodbath-nbc/

NBC averaged a total of 12.2 million viewers per night. That’s a drop of 26% from last year’s Summer Olympics in Tokyo, and a staggering 42% drop from the last Winter Olympics in South Korea. Trying to put a good face on it, NBC bragged about the growth in viewing on their streaming platforms. Yes, but what good does that do them if the broadcast audience drops so much that the total viewership is still 42% smaller? No wonder China is cleaning our clocks at math.

While I have no ill will toward our great athletes who were forced to endure these Games, I’m glad that they not only failed to provide good publicity for China’s evil communist regime but also hit the IOC, NBC and other American corporations that suck up to China in the pocketbook. Mark 8:36 asks, “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” I’m glad to see that it also doesn’t profit corporations to sell their souls to gain the favor of China’s CCP and lose their American customers.

6. The Woke Mob turns on AOC

It’s always an interesting spectator sport when the leftwing outrage mobs turn on one of their own, as they inevitably will. Politicians who exploit outrage and division are like people who feed others to a tiger, hoping it will eat them last. And now, look who's turn it is:

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/aoc-outrages-lgbtq-advocates-over-suggested-renaming-of-post-office-honoring-activist

No sooner had a new book been released that practically anoints her as a Goddess in designer shoes, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has come under fire from the LGBTQ community. She suggested changing the name of a post office in her district and asked social media followers to suggest new names. She apparently didn’t know that the post office was named five years ago for gay community heroine Jeanne Manford, who co-founded the first organization for parents of gay and lesbian children, and her husband Jules.

AOC said she thought it would be a “small but interesting” way to engage the community in the legislative process. But furious LGBTQ activists accused her of trying to erase their history and said it’s further evidence of how out of touch she is with her district. Former NYC City Council member Daniel Dromm asked the New York Daily News, "Is it that she doesn’t know our history? Did they not check to see who the post office is named after right now? Does she not know who Jeanne Manford was?"

Personally, I think she deserves the benefit of the doubt that she doesn’t know much about history. I think she’s honestly proven that many times. Economics, too.

    A quote from Fredrick Douglass:
Liberty is meaningless where the right to utter one's thoughts and opinions has ceased to exist. That, of all rights, is the dread of tyrants. It is the right which they first of all strike down. They know its power. Thrones, dominions, principalities, and powers, founded in injustice and wrong, are sure to tremble, if men are allowed to reason... Equally clear is the right to hear. To suppress free speech is a double wrong. It violates the rights of the hearer as well as those of the speaker.
